The Samsung Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 Plus will share many key design characteristics
Samsung may not be launching the Galaxy S21 series until January 2021, but the leaks about the company's next flagships are mounting. Information about the battery capacities and rumoured specifications of the Galaxy S21 series have already appeared online, detailing much about the likes of the Galaxy S21 and S21 Ultra. Additionally, OnLeaks has published multiple CAD renders of the Galaxy S21 trio, that suggest Samsung has made not many visual changes from this year's Galaxy S20 series.
One area that will be changing is the rear-facing camera array, which Samsung practically overhauls every year with the Galaxy S series. OnLeaks' CAD renders suggested that Samsung would be going with a more minimal design for next year's Galaxy S21 series, which has been underlined by a picture that was published on Twitter and /LEAKS. The photo, which has now been deleted from Twitter, is reputedly of the camera housing itself, possibly of the Galaxy S21 or Galaxy S21 Plus. The picture shows a housing with three equally-sized apertures that looks like it sits snugly against the top left-hand corner of the device's back panel.
This design matches with a RAW CAD render of the Galaxy S21 Plus published by MySmartPrice. According to the website, it obtained the renders from an anonymous source, although they look remarkably similar to the ones produced by OnLeaks. Nonetheless, the show that the camera housing will be slightly raised from the back panel. It will also not curve with the glass back, as the photos below demonstrate.
The Galaxy S21 Plus is expected to a feature a flat display, along with the Galaxy S21. MySmartPrice also claims that the Galaxy S21 Plus will measure 161.5 x 75.6 x 7.85 mm, which would make it a touch wider than its predecessor. The website expects Samsung to equip the Galaxy S21 Plus with a 6.7-inch display, too.
