Samsung has rolled out another feature update to the Galaxy Watch Active 2, its former flagship smartwatch. Replaced by the Galaxy Watch 3, that has not stopped Samsung from bringing one of the latter's features to the Watch Active 2. Samsung has only released the new firmware to South Korean devices so far, but XDA Developers and Tizen Help suspect that other regional variants are also in line for the same update.
The new firmware is only a 61.39 MB download, but it adds voice assistance when exercising training, a useful feature that was previously exclusive to the Galaxy Watch 3. Called 'Voice Guidance Support', the feature can be used on request during workouts via a pair of Bluetooth-connected earphone during exercise, such as jogging or running. Once enabled, the voice assistant can remind you of important information like your pulse and for how far you have been moving.
Additionally, the feature can set goals, allowing you to run or jog to goals. The update, called R820XXU1CTJ5, also contains some bug fixes and optimisations designed to improve system stability. Sadly, Samsung is yet to enable ECG functionality on the Galaxy Watch Active 2, for some reason.
