Samsung updates the Galaxy Watch Active 2 with SmartThings Find and Group Walking challenge support
The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 has acquired a new colorway that matches the new Phantom Violet S21 or S21+, now available for US$250 in the US. However, even its pre-existing non-purple units also has access to its latest firmware update. It brings its maker's Hand Wash app to the wearable for the first time.
This new software (known as the R820XXU1DUA3/R820GFC1DUA3 update for the Watch Active 2) also adds support for Samsung's Group Walking Challenge. It allows users to invite others with compatible devices to compare performances in this work-out on a remote basis. Access to a number of fitness programs for home-based gym programs are also included in this firmware.
It also now cuts the Watch Active 2 in on the Samsung SmartThings Find ecosystem feature, which coincides neatly with the launch of Galaxy SmartTags. The smartwatch's new update has been detected in the Canadian and South Korean markets thus far.
