Toyota has announced that it will be recalling over 12,000 of its bZ3 sedans in China that it built in cooperation with BYD. Ford has announced plans to cut upwards of 1,000 jobs in the US in the coming months, citing, among other reasons, high costs of pivoting its production to electric vehicles and the lack of profitability in the electric vehicle market as reasons for the lay-offs. The lay-offs are expected to affect both salaried and contract engineers in its internal-combustion-engine division and software developers in its EV business. Ford also expects to continue losing money, to the tune of US$3 billion, on its electric vehicle division in 2023.

Although Sonos sued Google over six patent infringements, the US$32.5 million penalty comes as the result of a single infringement. The judge has ruled that the other five patents were not infringed. However, Sonos has made a statement saying that "Google infringes more than 200 Sonos patents" and made it clear that the war is not over.

When he did speak to Tesla's customer service, he was told to bring the burnt-out husk of the car to a service centre, despite the vehicle's non-functional state.

The Chinese government has forced Tesla to issue its largest recall in the country so far. The recall in question addresses accidents allegedly caused by driver confusion that seems to be linked to Tesla's one-pedal driving mode — a problem that could be resolved via an OTA update. All of the brand's vehicles in China seem to be subject to the recall, which goes into effect on May 29, 2023.
