Over 1,700 Dacia Spring recalled due to charger issues

Introduced on the EV market in March 2021 as the cheapest electric car available in Europe at that time, Dacia's Spring also managed to get very close to the Tesla Model 3 as the second most exported electric car made in China during the first eight months of the same year, with 17,398 units sold. In Romania, it managed to become the best-selling new car on the market in December 2022, with 1,804 units. Now, over 1,700 Dacia Spring owners should take their cars to a service center and have them checked.

According to Dacia representatives who spoke to Romanian news outlet Profit.ro, no less than 1,730 Dacia Spring electric cars that were manufactured in 2022, between July and October have been recalled recently. The same sorce reveals that these cars are prone to a charging unit malfunction. Once in a service, the cars will have their charging units checked and, if needed, they would get a software reflash as well.

Car-Recalls.eu reports a single Dacia Spring recall so far. On that occasion, an undisclosed number of vehicles maufactured in the Shiyan plant between April 26 and October 4, 2022 was involved. The reason for their recall was a possible malfunction of the rear right seat belt retractor.

According to the TÜV Report 2023, quoted by the same source mentioned above, the Dacia Logan is the worst 2-3 and 8-9 years old car, while the Duster also leads two rankings, namely for the worst 4-5 and 6-7 years old cars. Fortunately, the Dacia Spring has not made it into any such rankings yet.
