Better still, early beta versions are being compiled with Google Play Services, indicating that it may not be all doom and gloom for the Chinese company yet. AT&T cancels its Samsung Galaxy Fold pre-orders

The US carrier AT&T has sent emails to customers who have pre-ordered the (still) upcoming Samsung Galaxy Fold informing them that these reservations have been cancelled. The company states that it will refund any advance charges made, or release any funds held, in conjunction with these transactions. Affected customers may also receive credits against a future bill.

South Korean telecommunications bodies have confirmed that the number of people who use 5G in the country has grown to over 1 million. This figure is based on the volume of relevant phone plans sold by the carriers that have deployed this new mobile data standard in the country. The government also plans to improve 5G infrastructure in the future.

The Nova 5 sub-premium smartphone is now confirmed to launch on June 21, but rumor has it that the Nova 5i premium mid-range model is also slated to launch around the same date. Specs leaked on TENAA for the Nova 5i include a Kirin 710 SoC, 6 or 8 GB of RAM plus 128 GB of storage, a 6.4-inch display with 2,30 x 1080 resolution, rear quad-camera setup with 24 MP + 8 MP +2 MP + 2MP sensors, and a 3,900 mAh battery.

Vivo's iQOO phone allegedly falls from 102,000 feet in the air and survives

The OEM Vivo has posted a video on Weibo, which portrays a project in which an iQOO phone was loaded onto an industrial-grade balloon. These hydrogen-filled craft are used with increasing frequency to visit extreme, near-space altitudes. In this case, the phone was also allegedly still operational after being ejected from a height of about 101,706 feet.

Asus ZenFone 6 to launch as the Asus 6Z in India on June 19

Asus's flagship smartphone, the ZenFone 6, will be be launching as the Asus 6Z in the Indian market on June 19. The change in naming is due to an interim order by the Delhi High Court that restrains Asus from selling any product using the 'Zen' or 'ZenFone' trademark based on a plea filed by Telecare Network. Asus will be challenging the plea soon and has promised that the sales and support of existing products will not be affected.
