OnePlus has once again shown its dedication to providing timely software updates, as it's now sending out the Android 10-based Oxygen OS 10 beta build to the OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T. The build is exclusive to factory unlocked, non-carrier models.

According to sources cited by the Nikkei Asian Review, Google may be working on a 5G-capable Pixel 4. The handset may be announced at Google's Pixel event on October 15th but likely wouldn't be available for months. However, considering how new and small 5G networks are, a 5G-compatible Pixel 4 seems unlikely.

The OPPO Reno A, the Chinese OEM's latest mid-range smartphone, was launched in Japan today. Packing a Snapdragon 710, 6 GB of RAM, and 128 GB of storage, the handset seems centered around selfies due to its 25 MP front-facing camera. Microsoft has created a new ARM processor in collaboration with Qualcomm called the SQ1. The SQ1 is a redesigned Snapdragon 8cx with built-in LTE, 3 GHz max clock, a more powerful Adreno 685 GPU with 2.1 TFLOPS of performance, and 9 TFLOPS of AI performance. The features of the SQ1 processor will be exclusive to the Surface Pro X.

Samsung has been helping to blaze the 5G smartphone trail and it looks set to do the same for tablets. A new Galaxy Tab S6 variant has been spotted going through a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth certification process that also carries the label Galaxy Tab S6 5G suggesting a release isn’t far away.

Microsoft has taken wraps off the Surface Duo, a Surface device that offers telephony capabilities. The Surface Duo runs on a custom version of Android built in partnership with Google and will feature support for apps from the Google Play Store, which can scale across dual screens for enhanced productivity.

The next-generation Surface Pro is here, and it starts at US$999. The Surface Pro X, previously leaked as the Surface Campus and Surface 7, has a 13-inch Pixel Sense display with a 2,880 x 1,920 resolution and is just 5.3 mm thick. Although this is not official yet, it looks like Samsung has already disbanded the entire team that was working in its Austin R&D center to develop architectures and designs for the System LSI division so next-gen Exynos chips will — most likely — use solutions developed by ARM instead.

The Pixel 4 has already been quite heavily leaked ahead of its launch, including by Google itself. However, the first official render that clearly shows the entirety of the front and rear of the device has now surfaced as well.

Microsoft has more up its sleeve than just the Surface Laptop 3 and Surface Pro 7, according to veteran leaker Evan Blass. Apparently, a selection of fresh colors for the next generation of Surface devices is inbound, and the newest edition to the Surface Laptop line will be shorn of its Alcantara coat. Arguably, the most exciting leak is the supposed almost borderless display that the Surface Pro 7 (or just "Surface 7") will sport.
