According to a new report, the Surface Laptop 5 could miss out on AMD Ryzen models, a break from earlier generations. Purportedly, the Surface Laptop 5 could arrive with Intel Alder Lake-U series processors instead, a fate now also rumoured to be the case for the Surface Pro 9. Prices, memory configurations and new colour options have leaked too.

A potential release date for the Surface Pro 9 5G has leaked online, which should also apply to the regular Surface Pro 9, the Surface Laptop 5, the Surface Studio 3 and perhaps even the rumoured Surface Gaming Laptop. Having been spotted on the FCC's database, details about possible design changes between the Surface Pro X and Surface Pro 9 5G have been outlined too.

According to reports, Microsoft has settled on powerful Alder Lake-P series processors for the Intel version of the Surface Pro 9. By contrast, the Surface Pro 9 5G, the Surface Pro X's successor, will arrive with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3, an SoC with four ARM Cortex-X1 performance cores. Both models should feature 120 Hz displays too, unlike the current Surface Pro X.

Google has been thought to be ready to resurrect the Pixelbook line imminently. However, the Mountain View giant has now reportedly scrapped the project in its entirety, despite the fact that the product in question may have been ready to launch by 2023. The decision is supposedly related to the rise of the Chromebook throughout the decade thus far.

Brydge has announced the SP MAX Plus (or MAX+) as a keyboard dock for the Surface Pro 8 with a considerable price-hike compared to the OEM's first-gen SP+ predecessor that does the same thing. Then again, this newer model incorporates a tablet cover with "military-grade" durability as well as handy touches such as a new auto-connect feature and a pen silo.

The latest MateBook E variant from Huawei is a Go today (September 6, 2022). The convertible has a 12.35-inch display with 120Hz SKUs and a 2.5K display compatible with the OEM's latest stylus. It runs Windows 11 using the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 processor and, as such, starts much cheaper than its flagship sibling in China.

According to reports, Microsoft is looking to introduce plenty of new devices at this year's autumn hardware event. Not only is the company rumoured to have Surface Pro 8 and Surface Pro X successors ready, but also the Surface Laptop 5 and even a Surface Studio 3.

The latest PureBook Fold and Lite models represent Nokia's budget solutions with Intel Pentium Silver N6000 processors. Both models feature mostly the same specs with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, 128 GB SSD and 14.1-inch display, yet the Fold also gets a touchscreen and a 2-in-1 design.

Notebooks with the new Ryzen 7 6800U are still rare, but the Lenovo Yoga 7 14 once again confirms that AMD's current mobile processors are better compared to Intel in terms of CPU and iGPU performance as well as efficiency. The convertible is also really good in other regards except for the sound system.

Huawei has announced that a new tablet PC called the MateBook E Go will debut imminently, alongside the Mate 50 series of flagship smartphones. The device will ostensibly ship with Windows 11 and has been revealed to support a keyboard dock thus far. It also has at least 1 USB type-C port and has a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Asus ExpertBook B5 Flip has been announced with a 16-inch WUXGA OLED touchscreen, Alder Lake-P (vPro, vPro Essential and non-vPro variants included) processors, up to 40 GB of RAM and a 50 Wh battery. Information about its price and availability will be revealed soon.

According to reports, Microsoft is preparing to launch a next-generation Surface Pro device. With ARM and Intel versions planned, Microsoft will reputedly release the Surface Pro 9 or Surface Pro 10 as a Surface Pro 8 and Surface Pro X successor.

Despite its Surface-Like appearance, the new HP Dragonfly Folio G3 does not come with a detachable keyboard. However, this convertible offers premium features such as powerful Intel Alder Lake vPro processors, 2x Thunderbolt 4 connectors, an 8 MP webcam and a 3000 x 2000 OLED display option.

ASUS has started selling the Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED in Europe, which it equips with a 120 Hz, 550 nit and high-resolution OLED display. The Zenbook Pro 15 Flip OLED also relies on Intel Alder Lake processors and an Intel Arc Graphics discrete GPU, among other features.

Dell has unveiled pricing and availability for the XPS 13 2-in-1, a convertible machine based around Intel Core i5-1230U and Core i7-1250U processors. Equipped with a 49.5 Wh battery and a 13-inch display, the XPS 13 2-in-1 also supports active stylus input and a detachable keyboard folio.

Newer is better except for the few times when it's not. HP has adjusted the performance of the MicroSD reader and layout of the keyboard keys between model generations that some users may not be fond of.

A very capable configuration of the sixth generation of Lenovo's flagship 14-inch convertible notebook is now on sale as it is being replaced by the ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 7, which is much more expensive but not necessarily better in many regards.

Mini-LED makes its debut in the form of 1,100 nits that ensure a true HDR gaming experience: Asus' ROG Flow X16 is a compact 16-inch and 2-in-1 convertible that keeps 125 watts of RTX 3070 Ti permanently cool, outperforming other multimedia notebooks while remaining quieter than gaming laptops.

The model is one of the first 16-inch convertibles to include discrete Intel Arc graphics whereas the Dell Inspiron 7620 2-in-1 ships with the GeForce MX550 instead.

ASUS has started selling the ROG Flow X16 in Europe, where it starts at €2,499. Paired with AMD Ryzen 6000 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 series GPUs, the ROG Flow X16 also has a Mini LED display that peaks at 1,000 nits in a convertible design. The ROG Flow X16 nearly hits €4,000 in some configurations, though.

MSI's latest 14-inch convertible is strong on all fronts from its bright 500-nit DCI-P3 touchscreen and Core i7-1260P CPU that actually performs how it should be. At 1.6 kg, however, this isn't a very light convertible at all.

Dell has begun selling the Inspiron 14 2-in-1 in AMD Barcelo and Intel Alder Lake flavours. Billed as the Inspiron 14 7425 and Inspiron 14 7420 respectively, the pair feature plenty of ports and a 14-inch touchscreen display.

Between bright OLED displays and powerful processor platforms, Apple's refreshed M2 MacBook Pro 13 doesn't bring all that much to the table in terms of upgrades. Is the stale design worth living with for the convenience of macOS? If not, which Windows laptops should you spring for instead?

(June 27, 2022 update: Issue has been resolved.) There is a huge mismatch in display brightness between what Asus is claiming and what we are actually seeing on a retail unit. Hopefully we can find an official solution to "unlock" the maximum brightness potential of the otherwise impressive 120 Hz OLED touchscreen.

Asus just launched its first ever laptop with Arc A370M graphics. While it performs great against integrated Iris Xe and Radeon Vega, it's going to need to a bigger boost to overtake the existing Nvidia GeForce MX series and even some older GeForce GTX 1050 solutions.

The 13.3-inch model integrates two Thunderbolt 4 ports, 5G WWAN connectivity, Wi-Fi 6E, and a 16:10 2560 x 1600 display all in a chassis weighing less than 3 pounds. Intel Core U-series CPUs come standard with no Core P options.

Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Xiaomi Book S 12.4" thin and light laptop. Its key specs include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 SoC, 8 GB RAM, 256 GB of expandable storage, and a 4,920 mAh battery. It runs Windows 11 out of the box is purchasable now at €699.

The 1,040-gram Galaxy Book2 Pro 360 scores points with an Alder Lake CPU, Thunderbolt 4, and very good battery life. Positive: The laptop can run completely silently when needed. The OLED touchscreen can be used both with the fingers, as well as with the included S-Pen.

Amazon and Best Buy are slashing the latest Surface Pro 7+ to just $700 USD. The price cut may suggest that a replacement could be launching soon with Intel 12th gen CPU options.

It's been over four years since we last saw the XPS 15 2-in-1. While a proper successor has yet to made official, we can at least look towards the recently launched Inspiron 16 7620 2-in-1 as an alternative option.

More details about the Xiaomi Book S 12.4" have surfaced, with the 12.4-inch tablet set to take on ARM-powered Windows 2-in-1 machines like the Surface Pro X. The Xiaomi Book S 12.4" will support a detachable keyboard and will rely on the Snapdragon 8cx Gen 2 chipset, among other features.

More marketing renderings of the apparently upcoming Dell XPS 9315t 2-in-1 hybrid laptop have been leaked. The latest images appear to show the Windows 11 operating system in action with the aid of large widgets. The new Dell XPS 2-in-1 (2022) looks very much like it could easily join the Microsoft Surface Pro lineup with its design.

Huawei has filed a patent for what it describes as a "detachable electronic device" that can dock onto 2 additional objects with compatible connectors. The new IP's images make it more clear that it is intended to be a "core" of sorts for a display and keyboard that can slot into the machine at the user's discretion. This, then, might be a new take on an emerging modular trend.

The fairly large and rather unique 16-inch convertible laptop offers some pretty decent specs at a reasonable price as HP has apparently started a clearance sale in order to make space for the upgraded but certainly more expensive 2022 version of the HP Spectre x360 16.

Lenovo now claims to have ended its latest fiscal year (on March 31, 2022) with US$10 billion more in terms of revenue compared to the last. The company has also declared net profits of just over $2 billion (or 72% more year-on-year (YoY)). It attributes this success to pretty much all areas of its business, particularly its enterprise-focused and services arms.
