Convertible with fitting equipment: Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 5 succeeds in the test
With the small Intel Core i3-1215U, only 8 GB of working memory, and an at most average M.2 SSD, the technical specifications of the IdeaPad Flex 5 14IAU7 in the weakest configuration are not very impressive on paper.
However, after our benchmark tests and measurements, things look a little different: The Alder Lake i3 performs here at the level of an Intel Core i5-1135G7, which is used mainly in simple business laptops. Only the integrated graphics unit is unable to keep up with the performance.
But while surfing, streaming, or performing other everyday tasks, this won't matter that much. The same goes for the limited amount of RAM, as long as you don't have too many programs or browser tabs open at the same time. Even the limited storage space might be sufficient, as long as you don't have to archive any larger image, music, or video collections.
Made for simple tasks
The convertible otherwise seems to be equipped for anything. The webcam produces an easily recognizable image even in weak light conditions. Together with the dual-array microphone, it ensures attractive video calls. While the speakers are in no way brilliant, they still sound good, despite their lack of bass.
Even the connections including Thunderbolt 4 and SD card slot give no reason for complaint. The only reason for the latter might be the display. The low brightness is not very attractive outdoors, and the limited color space coverage also doesn't really do justice to photos.
However, the Lenovo convertible still gives the impression of being at least sufficient for most areas - be it as a laptop for office tasks at home or as a tablet for streaming or surfing in the evening.
