The PlayStation 5 could end up showing some 4K titles in “fake 4K” according to one commentator while another has opined that the next-gen console might be giving developers some headaches because of its AMD SmartShift technology and variable processing frequencies. The PS5 has already been under the microscope lately because of similar concerns.

Lenovo offers the ThinkPad T14s with Intel as well as AMD processors. We now reviewed both models and can confirm the big performance advantage for the AMD model. The only real advantage for Intel is the Thunderbolt 3 support.

A patent describing AMD's approaches to a hybrid ISA solution for low power computing has come to light recently. AMD could be taking a cue from ARM's big.LITTLE approach and Intel's hybrid ISA implementation in Lakefield and the upcoming Alder Lake processors. The patent is reportedly still being tweaked upon, but there is no confirmation that this design would indeed make it to market.

An Xbox Series S controller has popped up for a second time, but this time it comes with its retail packaging. On it, is confirmation that Microsoft will be releasing a yet-to-be-seen second console dubbed the Xbox Series S that this new controller is compatible with. The pictures were posted to Twitter by @Zak_exe.

A US patent uncovered by tipster @Underfox3 indicates that AMD is working on a hybrid computing design that appears similar to ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture, with high performance cores paired to power efficient, low-power cores.

Tipster @KOMACHI_ENSAKA claimed that internal AMD references to GCD and MCD likely refer to the “Graphics Complex Die” and “Memory Complex Die” of the purported Navi 31. These terms strongly indicate that Navi 31 (an upcoming RDNA 3 part) will likely be chiplet-based like Zen CPUs.

Sources close to WCCFTech confirmed the product positioning of the whole stack of upcoming NVIDIA GeForce Ampere 3000 series cards, alongside their board numbers and tentative launch timeframes. The report adds further credence to claims that Ampere cards will arrive in September.

Igor's Lab has revealed a new OPN ID indicating a 3.5 GHz base clock and 4.8 GHz boost clock for a 16-core 32-thread Zen 3 Vermeer engineering sample. This is a 100 MHz higher boost than the current Ryzen 9 3950X, and AMD may be able to manage speeds closer to the 5 GHz mark in the retail units. It is also being rumored that AMD may change the branding to Ryzen 5000 to avoid confusion with existing Ryzen 4000 Renoir APUs for mobile and desktop. Update: Two more OPNs discovered

Asus has released its new Zephyrus G14 gaming laptop in India. It can be customized with a host of AMD Ryzen CPUs, Nvidia GeForce GTX and RTX GPUs, and comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of solid-state storage. Prices start at INR 80,990 (US$1,081) for the base variant.

Tipster @momomo_us leaked what appears to be a picture of ASRock’s refreshed X300 DeskMini small form-factor PC, set to feature an AMD Renoir Ryzen 4000 APU. This potentially offers workstation users better value for money, with Ryzen 4000 performance in the sub-US$500 range.

AMD stock prices increased by almost US$30 in the past week, while Intel prices took a dive of around US$11. As of now, AMD's market cap is just shy of US$100 billion, whereas Intel's market cap dropped to US$208.95 billion. The new 27-inch iMac is here, although you would be forgiven for thinking otherwise. The Honor Magicbook 15 laptop is now available for purchase in India. The notebook features an AMD Ryzen 5 3500U CPU with 8GB of RAM, 256GB of solid-state storage, and a Radeon Vega 8 GPU. It will be available on Flipkart starting August 3 for INR 42,999 (US$574).

A noted PS5 commentator has dropped an interesting hint at when Sony’s August State of Play event could happen. Also, a recent AMD earnings call should allay any fears gamers may have that the PlayStation 5 might miss its scheduled launch window of holiday 2020.

Previously believed to be quite inferior to Nvidia's A100 Ampere compute GPU, the upcoming MI100 Instinct from AMD is now expected to be way faster than the competition in certain workloads. The MI100 will be the first compute GPU developed on the CDNA architecture and will launch this December, targeting HPC/AI/machine learning applications for the oil/gas and academic sectors.

Sources indicate that NVIDIA will begin sampling GeForce RTX “Ampere” cards by the end of August, potentially in less than a month. Samsung's 5 nm Exynos 1000 SoC may be limited to just the Galaxy S21 Ultra next year with the base Galaxy S21 set to feature the Exynos 992, according to a new leak. The company may avoid the Snapdragon 875 chips in order to save costs. The leak also suggests that Samsung may look into changing the "Exynos" branding as well.

Honor, Huawei's subsidiary, is planning to release a brand of gaming laptops. Called Honor Hunter, the series will be built around AMD processors and dedicated GPUs.

Intel’s chip fabrication woes continue according to statements from the company in a report to investors. While its 10nm process is finally starting to gain momentum, its transition to the 7nm node is facing issues and is now running around 12 months behind schedule pushing out production to 2022.

Dell has launched the Alienware M15 R3, G5 15 Special Edition, G5 15, and G3 15 gaming laptops in India. The laptops can be configured with a variety of Intel and AMD hardware. The Alienware M15 R3's price starts at a whopping INR 1,99,990 (US$2,673), while the Dell G5 15 Special Edition retails at INR 74,990 (US$1000). Similarly, Dell G5 15 costs INR 82,590 (US$1,103), and the Dell G3 15 will set you back by INR 73,990 (US$ 998)

Many users have been asking why OEMs are not providing dGPU options above the RTX 2060 for the Ryzen 4000H laptops. Would this latest reveal regarding the limited PCIe 3.0 lane access add to the conspiracy theories? They really should not, as the issue barely affects performance even for more powerful dGPUs. Tinfoil hats aside, AMD is most likely imposing these restrictions in order to keep laptop prices in the US$1,000 range.

Tipster @momomo_us revealed what appears to be pricing for AMD’s upcoming Renoir Ryzen 7 PRO 4750G, Ryzen 5 PRO 4650G, and Ryzen 3 PRO 4350G. The upcoming APUs slot neatly within AMD’s existing Ryzen lineup, offering enhanced graphics performance for a moderate price increase.

Adobe's Premiere Pro 14.2 update added hardware-accelerated encoding support for AMD GPUs. This, as the same chipmaker now claims, can reduce 4K video export times by up to 43% on the Ryzen 4000 H-series platform with Radeon RX 5000 GPUs compared to the CPU in question alone. This may make PCs such as the Dell G5 15 SE more appealing to content-creators

AMD's new Ryzen 4000 PRO APUs have appeared on UserBenchmark, the divisive benchmarking website. While the website has been accused of being pro-Intel, it considers the new Renoir APUs to be "above expectations" and even goes as far as to characterise the Ryzen 7 PRO 4750G as "outstanding".

The 4x4-V2000 single-board computer has not yet been officially announced by ASRock, but it appears to be powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 4600U APU coupled with 16 GB of DDR4 RAM. This new version seems like a solid upgrade over the older V1000 model powered by a Ryzen Embedded V1650B processor.

Latest word on the street is that AMD has not yet finalized PCB designs and driver integration for the Big navi cards, so previous performance rumors are probably pure speculation. Based on this new info, AMD could push the release schedule to October or even early November.

Tipster @KkatCorgi claimed that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Ampere graphics card will deliver up to 20 percent higher performance than the outgoing GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. This aligns with rumors that the RTX 3080 will be built on the high-performing GA102 silicon and opens up the path to 4K/60 PC gaming.

Lenovo's mobile 14-inch laptop scores points with a powerful APU, an NVMe SSD, and a successful keyboard (backlit). The computer doesn't show any weaknesses in terms of battery life either.

HP has released the Omen 15 and HP Pavilion Gaming 16 gaming laptops in India. Both notebooks can be configured with 10th-generation Intel chips and a wide array of Nvidia GeForce graphics cards. The HP Pavilion Gaming 16's price starts at INR 59,999 (US$ 804) and the Omen 15's at INR 75,999 (US$1,019).

Fresh reports suggest that Nvidia will only launch 8 nm GPUs this year, with a possible 7 nm "Super" refresh scheduled for 1H 2021. This could allow AMD to steal the GPU performance crown with 7 nm Big Navi GPUs this year and jump to 5 nm next year.
