Xiaomi already announced a 50X zoom lens, but Vivo now wants to push the limits even further with a 60X hybrid periscope lens. The latest teasers show that periscope lens is separated from the other rear cameras and is also not protruding thanks to system that includes light prisms. Vivo also plans to release a Pro version for the X30, which will feature more powerful rear cameras.

Having invested hundreds of millions of dollars in its foldable Infinity Flex Super AMOLED display technology, it makes sense that Samsung is keen to deploy it in the marketplace where it feels it can gain some traction. Enter a patent for a foldable Galaxy Tab that is very similar to the Galaxy Fold smartphone, but larger and without a secondary display.

Huawei and Honor began sending out the Android 10-based EMUI 10 and Magic UI 3.0 updates to their current-gen flagships. At the Honor V30 launch yesterday, Honor revealed its release roadmap for the Android 10 update and there are a few surprises in store, with just 13 devices billed to get the update.

The Samsung Galaxy S11+ has appeared in some renders and a video published by CashKaro in conjunction with @OnLeaks. The well-crafted images show the forthcoming flagship smartphone with a central punch-hole front-facing camera and a huge housing on the rear for the penta-lens camera setup, which apparently features a laser-focusing module.

MediaTek finally demonstrates that it can design efficient and affordable flagship SoCs that can easily compete with Qualcomm's and HiSilicon's flagships. Apart from the integrated power efficient 5G modem, the latest MediaTek SoC offers an advanced gen 3 APU for A.I-powered applications. It will also be among the first chips to integrate the new Mali-G77 GPUs.

Huawei sub-brand Honor has taken the wraps of the all-new V30 and V30 Pro. The new devices both sport support for 5G with the Pro model equipped with the latest HiSilicon Kirin 990 with integrated 5 G modem.

Sony makes some of the best smartphone camera sensors, so one would expect the company's flagships to offer excellent camera performance. The upcoming Snapdragon 865 is supposed to integrate a high-performance Kryo Gold Cortex-A77 running at 2.85 GHz plus 3 more A77 cores clocked at 2.42 GHz, along with 4 more Kryo Silver Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.8 GHz. This new cluster should boost performance by 20% compared to Snapdragon 855, while the new Adreno 650 GPU is expected to be 17-20% faster than the 640 model.

It's been fiercely debated which SoC would be on Samsung's next-gen Galaxy S11 flagships. Most claimed the newly launched Exynos 990 would have the honor, while others expected Samsung to launch another SoC, the Exynos 9830. Apparently, though, the Exynos 990 and Exynos 9830 are one and the same.

NVIDIA has announced the Jetson Xavier NX that can deliver up to 21 TOPS of computing power for AI applications on the edge. The Jetson Xavier NX is powered by a 384 CUDA and 48 Tensor core Volta GPU and a 6-core Carmel ARM CPU. The entire computer is no bigger than a credit card and will be available in March 2020 for just US$399.

Microsoft’s Surface devices have justifiably won plaudits for their industrial designs, however their user repairability has been among the worst on the market. The new Surface 3 revealed a promising change of direction that has also carried over to the much thinner Surface Pro X, according to iFixit.

The Rock Pi S has finally made it to market, after being announced this summer. The miniature SBC is underpinned by a Rockchip RK3308 quad-core SoC, either 256 or 512 MB of RAM and 1 GB of NAND flash storage. The board has a microSD card slot too, Wi-Fi connectivity and a 26-pin GPIO header among other features. The Rock Pi S measures just 3.8 x 3.8 cm and starts at US$9.90. Orders will begin shipping globally from November 12.

Pine64 started planning for a smartphone running on Linux last year and it looks like its vision is finally being realized. The PinePhone is nearly here and early adopters can put down some case on pre-orders from next week with the device shipping in late December through to January.
