M1 iMac pressure: 3 great Windows AIOs that barely compete

The Apple iMac with M1 is a phenomenal desktop computer. Between its bright, 4.5k display, lightning-fast M1 SoC and great built-in speakers and webcam, Apple seems to be going for the killing blow against Windows all-in-ones. Rumor | Apple customers will be able to subscribe to iPhones in the future

Apple has often asserted that it values its subscriptions (its Music arm, for example) as much as its hardware as contributors to the success of its overall business in the past. Now, according to a knowledgeable correspondent, it intends to convert whole iPhones into another kind of subscription. It is not clear how this rumored strategy will work as yet, although the OEM does have models from other manufacturers to follow.

The "removable SSD" in the Mac Studio is just a raw storage module with NAND controller/bridges. (Image Source: Max Tech on YouTube)

Mac Studio SSD does not work on NVMe, top-level ARM64 SSD controller in M1 Ultra makes it nearly impossible to swap-out or add raw storage modules

The so-called "removable SSDs" in the Apple Mac Studio aren't actual SSDs but just raw storage modules. Apple silicon Macs do not use the standard NVMe protocol but instead use their own implementation via PCIe. This means, it is not possible to simply swap-out or add storage at whim to the Mac Studio without matching the exact capacity and vendor and doing a full DFU restore.
