In today's age of online shopping, most customers want to hold their shiny new devices, such as an iPhone 14 Pro or Apple Watch Ultra, in their hands as soon as possible. Therefore, Apple is offering a same-day delivery option in many metro areas around the US, but the US$9 service now has to deal with an increasing number of complaints.
According to a report by MacRumors, more and more disgruntled Apple fans are claiming that their same-day order was stolen during the shipping process. For example, one affected customer from California asserts that his delivery, which included an iPhone 14 Pro Max, an Apple Watch Ultra and was fulfilled by an Uber Eats driver, was marked as delivered even though the package never reached his doorstep.
Allegedly, Apple’s customer service has not been helpful in resolving this apparent case of theft, and the disappointed customer has yet to receive his refund for the iPhone 14 Pro Max and Apple Watch Ultra (from US$749 on Amazon), which amounts to US$2,095. Apple responded that Uber’s investigation of the incident was completed and that it will not take any action. Supposedly, even the local authorities refused to investigate the incident as some police departments in California do not accept reports of petty theft, which would mean that a dispute of the corresponding credit card charge may be the only action that affected customers can take.
