The Sony A6700 is an exciting enthusiast-grade camera, but some users might take exception to the lack of charging hardware. (Image source: Sony)

Sony takes a page out of Apple's playbook for A6700, ditching charging hardware and leaving users with no default way to charge the device

Perhaps the inclusion of a USB Type-C port was simply an excuse for Sony to ship its mid-range A6700 APS-C mirrorless camera with no charging hardware, since the camera maker has done just that. A6700 owners will need to go out and buy not only an extra battery, but a whole other charger, if they want to charge their camera and use it at the same time.

A steady stream of reports about loose Canon EOS R5 and R6 hot shoe mounts has hit the internet over the last two years, and it appears to be stirring up a bit of a fuss among the photography community. More concerning than loose and detaching hardware is that Canon isn't offering any service or recall support outside of warranty repair, leaving many owners to DIY a solution.

Ford sees "EV inventory pileup" as a return to normal, and its EV sales growth indicates it may be correct

Ford's inventory of electric vehicles has consistently grown over the last few months, with some calling it a sign of the US carmaker's failure to sell its EVs. Ford, on the other hand, sees growing inventory in dealer lots as a return to normal thanks to an increase in production capacity. This response comes after Ford outpaced Tesla's Q2 2023 EV sales growth and drastically cut prices on its F-150 Lightning electric pickup.

Tesla has announced that it is recalling upwards of 15,000 of its Model S and Model X EVs after the company found that the front-row seat belt fasteners could have been improperly tightened after repairs. So far, neither Tesla nor the NHTSA have connected any deaths or injuries to the potentially loose hardware.

Toyota's China bZ3 electric sedan recall highlights widespread problem EVs and modern vehicle designs

Toyota has announced that it will be recalling over 12,000 of its bZ3 sedans in China that it built in cooperation with BYD. The reason for the recall comes down to faulty rear door handles that occasionally stop working or, even worse, randomly open while driving. The issue is so severe that Toyota has asked owners to immediately stop driving the vehicles, citing safety concerns.

Nikon Z8 flaws strike again as owners take to social media with reports of broken strap lugs

Several Nikon Z8 users have reported failing or loose camera strap lugs. This is the second issue the Z8 has had since its inception — one of which was also an issue with the Z9 previously and resulted in a recall in both cases. Nikon has yet to issue a recall regarding the loose strap lugs on the Z8, but repeated build quality issues may tarnish Nikon's reputation as a hardware manufacturer.

The Reacher, as the grabber stick is called, is supposed to lessen the inconvenience of having to reach over the passenger seat to collect drive-through takeaway meals. Resorting to a solution like The Reacher downplays potential safety implications of driving a LHD vehicle in a RHD country, making it seem like a mere inconvenience, instead.

Volkswagen CEO dashes electric Beetle hopes and dreams despite electric Bug concept in Netflix animated film

It appears as if the dream of an electric Volkswagen Beetle will only live on in DIY custom conversions, if a recent statement by VW CEO is to be believed. Despite the brand revisiting the VW Bus in the form of the ID Buzz, VW CEO, Thomas Schäfer, has said in an interview that there are some historic models that have had their time in the sun, and that there is no real justification for reviving the Beetle. Ford blames cost of electric vehicle production for upcoming job cuts of over 1,000 workers

Ford has announced plans to cut upwards of 1,000 jobs in the US in the coming months, citing, among other reasons, high costs of pivoting its production to electric vehicles and the lack of profitability in the electric vehicle market as reasons for the lay-offs. The lay-offs are expected to affect both salaried and contract engineers in its internal-combustion-engine division and software developers in its EV business. Ford also expects to continue losing money, to the tune of US$3 billion, on its electric vehicle division in 2023.
