CPU-Z and Cinebench results of what appears to be an engineering sample of Intel's upcoming Rocket Lake-S processor have leaked online. The preliminary results do not indicate much of an advantage over the Core i7-10700K yet as the sample has locked frequencies. These results also show considerable advantage the Ryzen 7 5800X has at the moment in both single and multi-core loads.

With a base clock of just 1.8 GHz and a single-core boost speed of 4.4 GHz, the upcoming Intel Core i9-11900 processor with a TDP of 65 W can deliver the same level of single-threaded performance as the 5.3 GHz Intel Core i9-10900K. Leaked roadmaps point to a busy 2021 and 2022 for both Intel and AMD. In 2021, we can expect to see Intel offering Rocket Lake-S and Comet Lake-Refresh parts alongside Tiger Lake-H. This will be followed by corresponding Alder Lake parts in 2022. AMD will introduce Cezanne, Lucienne, and Van Gogh APUs next year. Raphael in 2022 will be a Zen 4 mainstream part with integrated RDNA2 graphics and will be complemented by Rembrandt, Barcelo-U, and Dragon Crest on the laptop side.

MSI publishes Rocket Lake-S processor data; 8-core SKUs will have 125 W TDPs and be capable of 5.0 GHz boost clock speeds

A screenshot of a Rocket Lake-S processor in CPU-Z is being circulated online, and by none other than MSI. The image confirms that the Rocket Lake-S series will support the AVX512F and SHA instruction sets, while 8-core parts will be capable of reaching 5.0 GHz with a 125 W rated TDP. Rocket Lake-S processors are scheduled for release from Q1 2021 onwards.

Rocket Lake can go up to 8 cores, 16 threads and a top spped of 4.98GHz. At least, this is what is claimed in a new leak featuring on the Geekbench website. The silicon in question apparently exhibited this boost clock in an existing HP system.

Alleged photos of what appear to be Rocket Lake and Alder Lake processors are now doing the rounds around the interwebs. The information on the IHS is masked for obvious reasons, but we see that the Alder Lake processor is taller than current Comet Lake parts possibly to accommodate the additional 500 pins.

The Alder Lake-S chips would get 6 more cores over the current Comet Lake-S models, and the difference in size reflects this to some extent. However, the bigger chips also require a new socket, so Comet Lake-S users will be forced to upgrade the motherboard in case they want to make the jump to the 10 nm big/small architecture.

Intel confirms Rocket Lake-S with PCIe Gen4 support coming to desktops in Q1 2021

Intel has officially confirmed that Rocket Lake-S will be Comet Lake-S successor for desktops and gaming PCs. The 11th gen Rocket Lake-S will offer Xe-LP graphics, support for PCIe Gen4, and is slated for a Q1 2021 availability. Intel didn't go any further into configuration specifics, but we do get to hear that Rocket Lake-S will be based on the Cypress Cove architecture, which is a backport of Willow Cove on 14 nm.

No Ryzen 4000 this year? Report claims that AMD’s 7nm Zen 3 “Vermeer” might be delayed to 2021 due to “lack of competition” from Intel Comet Lake S for Ryzen 3000

A report by Digitimes indicates that AMD might delay the launch of its Zen 3-based Ryzen 4000 desktop CPUs to 2021. The report cites the “mediocre performance of Intel’s Comet Lake” as a key reason for the delay.

Intel Rocket Lake-S will top-out at eight cores max and may not launch in 2020; Early Gen12 Xe scores indicate a 10% higher performance for the Willow Cove backport compared to Ice Lake 32 EU

Intel's upcoming 11th gen 14nm Rocket Lake-S processor for mainstream desktop users may not launch this year, according to a recent performance enthusiast roadmap from Intel. Rocket Lake-S looks to bank on improved IPCs than raw core counts and early 3DMark Fire Strike and Time Spy scores of the 32 EU Gen12 Xe iGPU indicate about a 10% improvement over Ice Lake UHD Graphics G1.

Report: AMD's upcoming APU lineup includes Cezanne, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh; Rembrandt will support new I/O tech, but Intel's prospects don't look too bright

A new report on future Intel and AMD CPUs by Chinese publication Expreview confirms much of what we've been hearing about upcoming AMD processor codenames up till 2022. The report indicates Rembrandt APUs will herald the advent of new I/O technologies while also concluding that AMD's roadmap looks to have better prospects in the next few years compared to Intel's.

6-core / 12-thread Rocket Lake-S CPU early benchmarks reveal disappointing performance gains over Comet Lake-S

The boost clocks reported by 3DMark for the 6-core / 12-thread Rocket Lake-S CPU suggest that this could be a replacement for the Comet Lake-S i5-10400 CPU. The disappointing part is that there are no performance gains as far as CPU cores go, as the Rocket Lake-S engineering sample proves to be slightly slower than the Comet Lake-S model. It does, however, deliver better graphics performance thanks to the new Xe iGPU.

Intel Tremont-based Jasper Lake Pentium and Celeron CPUs could feature Gen11 integrated graphics

A 3DMark listing of an unnamed Jasper Lake part has surfaced online. Jasper Lake-based Pentium and Celeron SKUs are touted to be based on the Intel 10nm Tremont architecture and may also feature Gen11 integrated graphics, which is a significant step up from the current Gen9.5 iGPU in Gemini Lake.

Information about socket support for Intel Alder Lake-S has surfaced online. Alder Lake-S will require a larger LGA 1700 socket that will be compatible for at least three succeeding generations of Core processors. The 10nm++ Alder Lake-S platform is expected to sport of a mix of high-performing Golden Cove and power-efficient Gracemont cores.

The high-end Asus ROG Maximus line-up is rumored to be back with Z490 support this time around. Their allegedly leaked product info sheet indicates that it has multiple SKUs, which have PCI-Express 3.0, gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. They are also DDR4-4800 memory-compatible.
