Asus and MSI have released details about their new Z590 motherboards with the LGA 1200 socket that offer support for Comet Lake and Rocket Lake chips from Intel. MSI’s range features 12 boards that are headlined by a revamped MEG Z590 GODLIKE while the 13 boards from Asus are led by the pricey ROG Maximus XIII Extreme Glacial.

Asus has upgraded its ultralight ExpertBook B9 line of business laptops. The new ExpertBook B9450CEA features Intel 11th Gen Tiger Lake Core i7 CPUs, Intel vPro, and are Intel Evo certified.

The Geekbench 5 processor benchmark chart for single-core performance is currently headed by four Zen 3 parts, with the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X leading the pack on an average score of 1,680. However, Rocket Lake-S CPUs like the Intel Core i9-11900K and i7-11700K should soon roar back and likely reclaim the table for Team Blue.

Intel showed off a preview of the Rocket Lake-S Core i9-11900K and compared its gaming performance against a PC powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 5900X. The performance improvements seem within the margin of error for now. Intel also briefly mentioned about 11th gen Tiger Lake-H 45 W and Alder Lake processors coming later this year.

The i7-11700K zipped past its fellow 8-core rival AMD Ryzen 7 5800X and produced a score that was almost 15% more than the Comet Lake i7-10700K.

According to PassMark's CPU usage data, which measures the percentage of CPUs running the company's benchmarks by brand, AMD briefly overtook Intel in total Desktop CPU usage share. However, this victory was short-lived. Intel also continues to dominate in the laptop and server arenas, according to PassMark's data.

A WCCFTech investigation into AIB Z590 partner boards indicates that Intel’s new platform will only support the PCIe 4.0 standard with Rocket Lake S processors. While Comet Lake S owners will be able to use Z590 boards, they’ll be missing out on this key feature that Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 5000 parts already support.

The Rocket Lake Intel Core i9-11900K processor has turned up another astonishing CPU-Z benchmark score, with an overclocked sample with all cores at 5.2 GHz managing higher single-thread and multithread test results than the AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. But the power cost for a slight improvement might be too high for many.

The Rocket Lake-S flagship processor Intel Core i9-11900K has recorded a CPU-Z single-thread benchmark score that takes it past AMD’s 16-core Ryzen 9 5950X by 2.7-5.7% depending on the test run. While this will likely make the upcoming chip attractive to some desktop gamers, there’s still bones of contention to be had with multithread performance, power, and postponements.

An Intel Core i7-11700K has been blasting its way through Geekbench and recording mighty single-core scores that go beyond the i9-10900K, AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, and even the Ryzen 9 5950X. The 8-core, 16-thread i7-11700K was supported by 32 GB RAM in a Gigabyte Z490 Aorus Master motherboard. Its clock speed reached 5.0 GHz.

Initial single-core performance numbers from an Intel Rocket Lake-S Core i9-11900K QS indicate up to 33% higher scores than a Core i9-10900K and up to 7% more performance than an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X despite sub-optimal cooling. Also being leaked are clocks and power info of several ES variants including the Core i7-11700 ES1, Core i7-11700K ES2, and the Core i9-11900 ES2.

CPU-Z and Cinebench results of what appears to be an engineering sample of Intel's upcoming Rocket Lake-S processor have leaked online. The preliminary results do not indicate much of an advantage over the Core i7-10700K yet as the sample has locked frequencies. These results also show considerable advantage the Ryzen 7 5800X has at the moment in both single and multi-core loads.

With a base clock of just 1.8 GHz and a single-core boost speed of 4.4 GHz, the upcoming Intel Core i9-11900 processor with a TDP of 65 W can deliver the same level of single-threaded performance as the 5.3 GHz Intel Core i9-10900K. Tested on the Z490 platform, this chip should be unveiled in early 2021.

Leaked roadmaps point to a busy 2021 and 2022 for both Intel and AMD. In 2021, we can expect to see Intel offering Rocket Lake-S and Comet Lake-Refresh parts alongside Tiger Lake-H. This will be followed by corresponding Alder Lake parts in 2022. AMD will introduce Cezanne, Lucienne, and Van Gogh APUs next year. Raphael in 2022 will be a Zen 4 mainstream part with integrated RDNA2 graphics and will be complemented by Rembrandt, Barcelo-U, and Dragon Crest on the laptop side.

Industry insiders reveal that Intel's current 10 nm yields are nowhere near viable for “full production” and even with the SuperFin tech, 10 nm production may never match that of the 14 nm nodes. Plus we get more details about the performance issues with the upcoming server-grade CPUs, even more delays for the 7 nm nodes and new details about the product outsourcing plans.

Although still not confirmed by Intel, it looks like the company's partners are ready to introduce the 500-series motherboards on the 11th of January 2021. A month or two after the introduction of these boards, Intel is expected to launch compatible Rocket Lake desktop processors as well.

Intel's next flagship desktop processor, the Core i9-11900K, may only have eight cores, but it is already comparing well against the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X in gaming benchmarks. The Core i9-11900K holds upwards of an 8% advantage over AMD's 16-core Vermeer chip, even with essentially the same boost clock as its Comet Lake-S predecessor.

Gregory Bryant, Intel EVP and GM of the Client Computing Group, felt that Intel's growth in laptops and desktops will continue. In a talk, he said that Intel is paranoid about the competition from AMD, Qualcomm, Apple, and MediaTek and takes all of them very seriously.

Information about several Intel Rocket Lake-S SKUs including the Core i9-11900K, Core i7-11700K, Core i5-11600K, and the Core i5-11400 have leaked online. The specs largely seem to resemble the Comet Lake generation but indicate anywhere between 100 MHz to 200 MHz single and all-core boosts. Pricing is expected to be similar to Comet Lake-S.

A screenshot of a Rocket Lake-S processor in CPU-Z is being circulated online, and by none other than MSI. The image confirms that the Rocket Lake-S series will support the AVX512F and SHA instruction sets, while 8-core parts will be capable of reaching 5.0 GHz with a 125 W rated TDP. Rocket Lake-S processors are scheduled for release from Q1 2021 onwards.

Intel's upcoming Rocket Lake flagship processor, the Core i9-11900K, has just made an appearance on the Ashes of The Singularity benchmark. It manages to net a score of 64 fps on 1080p and 62 fps on 1440p. In comparison, the AMD Ryzen 9 5950x manages to score 72 fps.

Rocket Lake can go up to 8 cores, 16 threads and a top spped of 4.98GHz. At least, this is what is claimed in a new leak featuring on the Geekbench website. The silicon in question apparently exhibited this boost clock in an existing HP system.

A new report has shed more light on Intel's next desktop processors, the Rocket Lake-S series. Apparently, the processors will be compatible with Z490 motherboards and will support PCIe 4.0. However, Rocket Lake-S will be built on a new 14 nm process and will only offer up to 8-core SKUs.

Alleged photos of what appear to be Rocket Lake and Alder Lake processors are now doing the rounds around the interwebs. The information on the IHS is masked for obvious reasons, but we see that the Alder Lake processor is taller than current Comet Lake parts possibly to accommodate the additional 500 pins.

Intel Rocket Lake seems to have an edge in single-core performance over the AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, if a leaked UserBenchmark score is to be believed. The Rocket Lake part is shown to be just 5% behind the Ryzen 9 5950X in overall scores although the latter managed good leads in individual multi-core tests.

Intel has offered a high-level overview of the architectural changes coming to Rocket Lake-S next year. Rocket Lake-S will be based on a Cypress Cove architecture, which is a combination of an Ice Lake CPU and an Xe iGPU. Rocket Lake-S will offer PCIe Gen4 support and offer enhanced overclocking and double-digit percentage IPC benefits over Comet Lake-S.

New sales data from Mindfactory has revealed the continued success story that is AMD Ryzen. The top 13 places are occupied by Ryzen CPUs, with the evergreen Ryzen 5 3600 still selling by the truckload. With the Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 series launching soon, and rumors of a Ryzen 5 5600 for next year, Team Red will likely go from strength to strength.

The Alder Lake-S chips would get 6 more cores over the current Comet Lake-S models, and the difference in size reflects this to some extent. However, the bigger chips also require a new socket, so Comet Lake-S users will be forced to upgrade the motherboard in case they want to make the jump to the 10 nm big/small architecture.

Intel has officially confirmed that Rocket Lake-S will be Comet Lake-S successor for desktops and gaming PCs. The 11th gen Rocket Lake-S will offer Xe-LP graphics, support for PCIe Gen4, and is slated for a Q1 2021 availability. Intel didn't go any further into configuration specifics, but we do get to hear that Rocket Lake-S will be based on the Cypress Cove architecture, which is a backport of Willow Cove on 14 nm.

A report by HDTechnologia states that Intel's upcoming Rocket Lake S CPU series is set to release in March 2021, alongside the new Z590 chipset. This late launch date could give AMD a boost, with the Ryzen 5000 series enjoying over five months alone on the market.

Developer and tweaker 1usmus recently unveiled his new ClockTuner utility for AMD Ryzen 3000 processors. ClockTuner uses an automated process to overclock and undervolt Zen 2 CPUs, netting effectively free performance, potentially without stability issues or greater power draw. The tool releases next month, not long before the arrival of Intel’s new Rocket Lake S parts.

A prominent tipster has posted what may be listings for Intel's USB 4 controllers. Should this be the case, it seems they will not be compatible with the traditional type A port. The material only mentions the USB 3.2 specification, with no hint of 2.0 in sight.

Rocket Lake-S is currently thought to be the code-name for those Intel chipsets that will succeed those known as Comet Lake-S. There is now more evidence that they will be compatible with the PCIe 4.0 standard. The processors may have up to 20 of these lanes.

Rocket Lake could be Intel’s comeback, its victory run and its redemption. All Intel has to do is win the core count game in the mainstream space.

Following an Intel earnings call where the CPU maker admitted that its 7nm process still wasn’t ready, competitor AMD saw a massive boost to its share value, with AMD shares having gained 16 percent on NASDAQ.

Alder Lake is a code-name for Intel CPUs currently slated to come after their Rocket Lake counterparts. These processors' rumors allege a number of notable features, not the least of which is their 10 nanometer (nm) nature, new socket type and big/small core arrangement. A new leak may confirm the latter: apparently, it will be a form of Lakefield's Hybrid Technology, but for desktops.

An Intel Rocket Lake S CPU recently turned up on GeekBench, delivering OpenCL performance that was slower than even some Kaby Lake GPUs. This raises questions about the state of Intel’s Xe graphics, following the disappointing outing of the DG1 discrete solution months earlier.

A report by Digitimes indicates that AMD might delay the launch of its Zen 3-based Ryzen 4000 desktop CPUs to 2021. The report cites the “mediocre performance of Intel’s Comet Lake” as a key reason for the delay.

Intel's upcoming 11th gen 14nm Rocket Lake-S processor for mainstream desktop users may not launch this year, according to a recent performance enthusiast roadmap from Intel. Rocket Lake-S looks to bank on improved IPCs than raw core counts and early 3DMark Fire Strike and Time Spy scores of the 32 EU Gen12 Xe iGPU indicate about a 10% improvement over Ice Lake UHD Graphics G1.

A new report on future Intel and AMD CPUs by Chinese publication Expreview confirms much of what we've been hearing about upcoming AMD processor codenames up till 2022. The report indicates Rembrandt APUs will herald the advent of new I/O technologies while also concluding that AMD's roadmap looks to have better prospects in the next few years compared to Intel's.

The boost clocks reported by 3DMark for the 6-core / 12-thread Rocket Lake-S CPU suggest that this could be a replacement for the Comet Lake-S i5-10400 CPU. The disappointing part is that there are no performance gains as far as CPU cores go, as the Rocket Lake-S engineering sample proves to be slightly slower than the Comet Lake-S model. It does, however, deliver better graphics performance thanks to the new Xe iGPU.

A 3DMark listing of an unnamed Jasper Lake part has surfaced online. Jasper Lake-based Pentium and Celeron SKUs are touted to be based on the Intel 10nm Tremont architecture and may also feature Gen11 integrated graphics, which is a significant step up from the current Gen9.5 iGPU in Gemini Lake.

Information about socket support for Intel Alder Lake-S has surfaced online. Alder Lake-S will require a larger LGA 1700 socket that will be compatible for at least three succeeding generations of Core processors. The 10nm++ Alder Lake-S platform is expected to sport of a mix of high-performing Golden Cove and power-efficient Gracemont cores.

Intel's Raja Koduri recently tweeted that the company's main focus is on integrated graphics, quashing hopes that high-performance Intel Xe GPUs will compete with the RTX 2080 Ti and second-gen Navi cards this year.

The high-end Asus ROG Maximus line-up is rumored to be back with Z490 support this time around. Their allegedly leaked product info sheet indicates that it has multiple SKUs, which have PCI-Express 3.0, gigabit Ethernet, Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. They are also DDR4-4800 memory-compatible.
