The move raises serious privacy concerns for a company that touts itself as a user privacy leader.

A study of device repair in Germany for the year 2019 found that 30.7% of those conducted by users were carried out on Apple phones. Samsung was second in these terms at 29.7%, followed by Huawei at 21.6%. Owners were most likely to replace their phones' batteries by themselves, and to resort to a professional for screen repairs, last year.
