A chart produced by market analyst firm Canalys has provided some information about the most popular phones for the third quarter of 2020. While Samsung has done very well and has five different devices in the top 10 units shipped, it just cannot remove Apple from the top two spots. Xiaomi has also performed admirably thanks to new smartphones released under its Redmi brand.
The iPhone 11 is the number one shipped smartphone for Q3 2020, with over 16 million units being sent around the world. The 2019 flagship is joined at the top by the iPhone SE, which occupies the runner-up spot with around 10 million units shipped. A handful of Samsung phones follow the iPhone rivals: Galaxy A21s, Galaxy A11, and Galaxy A51.
Xiaomi can also be pleased to have three smartphones in the top 10 chart, with the Redmi Note 9/Redmi 10X 4G (6th), Redmi 9 (7th), and Redmi 9A (9th) all shipping around the six-million-unit mark. The chart also provides an interesting snapshot into buying habits: If smartphone users want a costly flagship then they are most likely to go for the latest iPhone. After that, mid-range and budget offerings from market sector leaders are more likely to be picked up in this current uncertain economic climate.
