Redmi Note sales top 140 million thanks to the enduring popularity of the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8
Redmi has been informing its millions of fans about a new sales record: 140 million units sold in the Note series. It’s an incredible figure, especially when you take into account that the parent brand, Xiaomi, was only founded in 2010. While the first Redmi Note devices made some waves in the market, it was the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 8 that were really snapped up in their many millions.
In fact, the Redmi Note 8 is still one of the world’s best-selling smartphones, with both the regular device and the Redmi Note 8 Pro featuring in the top five smartphones in terms of amount shipped for the first half of 2020. The Redmi Note 8 hit 11 million units while the Redmi Note 8 Pro wasn’t far behind on 10.2 million units.
To put the 140 million Redmi Note sales figure into perspective, Xiaomi has offered up some interesting comparisons. For instance, using the Redmi Note 8 as reference, the company has sold enough Note smartphones to stretch from the North Pole to the South Pole, which is around 20,000 km (12,427 miles). Another example claims the amount of devices sold equals 132 times the height of Mount Everest (8,848 m/20,029 ft).
