Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 12.5 update for the Redmi Note 7 with the China ROM. Apparently, the firmware is in a stable beta form, so there will be a testing phase before a wider rollout commences. The Redmi Note 7 was released in February 2019 and has been a massive sales hit for Xiaomi.

Owners of the Global, Europe, and India ROM variants of the Redmi Note 7 can expect to start receiving MIUI 12.5 in the coming weeks as it has been revealed that the software update is now rolling out to select units with the China ROM. Version V12.5.3.0.QFGCNXM of the software is reported as a stable beta, so it is likely it will be tested by Mi Pilots for a while before other users start receiving it.

Currently, the Redmi Note 7 has been updated to the Android 10-based version of MIUI 12, and it will be an Android 10-based version of MIUI 12.5 that will be the next update. While no upgrade to Android 11 is expected for the Redmi Note 7, it is possible that it will receive MIUI 13. Custom ROMs such as CesiumOS can offer the Android 11 experience for Redmi Note 7 users.

Unsurprisingly, the V12.5.3.0.QFGCNXM firmware is available online for download for those plucky Redmi Note 7 owners who want to give it a try ahead of the official release schedule (check “sources” for link). Remember to backup your data before attempting to install the MIUI 12.5 update.
