The Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S receive a new MIUI 12 update
Xiaomi started rolling out MIUI 12 to the Redmi Note 7 last month, starting with the European variant of the device. The company then brought its latest OS to the Chinese version of the Redmi Note 7, before upgrading the global and Russian variants shortly thereafter. Now, Xiaomi has released the first MIUI 12 update for the Redmi Note 7 in India. The update has also reached the Redmi Note 7S.
V12.0.1.0.QFGINXM will be arriving as over-the-air (OTA) upgrade, although Xiaomi Firmware Updater currently lists it as a Stable Beta update. In practice, this means that only a few devices will receive the call to MIUI 12 while Xiaomi checks if it has missed any bugs. Xiaomi Firmware Updater has posted a link to the recovery ROM though, allowing you to download it now. We would recommend flashing V12.0.1.0.QFGINXM via a custom recovery for the time being as the stock recovery may not allow you to do so.
The launch of the Beta Stable update should signify the impending arrival of MIUI 12 for all Indian versions of the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S. The update also includes Android 10, rather than the newer Android 11. We would expect Xiaomi to upgrade the Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7S to Android 11 eventually, although it may be the last Android OS upgrade they receive, having been released on Android 9.0 Pie.
