Xiaomi has seeded a new update for the global version of the Redmi Note 8, following an issue with V12.0.2.0.QCOMIXM for some handsets. There had been hints that Xiaomi would release a new build before the end of the month, including the rolling back of V12.0.1.0.QCOMIXM yesterday. The new update, which Xiaomi has called V12.0.2.0.QCOMIXM, is a 2.1 GB download for devices that are still running MIUI 11.
V12.0.2.0.QCOMIXM will be arriving as an OTA, so Xiaomi may make it available to devices that successfully upgraded to V12.0.1.0.QCOMIXM. According to the changelog for V12.0.2.0.QCOMIXM, Xiaomi has also upgraded the Redmi Note 8 to the November 2020 security patch, while it has also fixed a bug that occasionally caused a noise to be played when the screen was turned off. Additionally, V12.0.2.0.QCOMIXM apparently optimises the control center layout in landscape mode.
The new update for the Redmi Note 8 remains at the Beta Stable stage of testing, according to Xiaomi Firmware Updater. Some devices have seemingly received a notification to download the OTA, but you could try flashing the recovery ROM, a link to which has already been published.
