A potential MIUI 13 release date has been posted by a super moderator on the Xiaomi Mi Community forum. In response to a question in regard to waiting for MIUI 13 (clearly not from a Redmi Note 8 user), the moderator "Manwex" posted this reply: “MIUI 13 will be presented in Q2 2021”. This seems to be around the expected timeframe for the rollout of the MIUI 12 successor to begin anyway, but it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt as even being a super moderator does not make one Xiaomi’s senior software engineer.
Predicted lists of Xiaomi and brand-related smartphones that will receive the MIUI 13 update have started appearing, and some are definitely more optimistic than others. For example, there are suggestions that the Redmi 4, Mi Mix 2, and yes, the Redmi Note 8, will be treated to a MIUI 13 update. Fortunately, a more believable prediction that doesn’t include smartphones released in 2016 or the poor old Redmi Note 8 has been posted, and it features the following devices:
- Xiaomi Mi 10T, Mi 10T Lite, Mi 10T Pro
- Xiaomi Mi Note 10, Mi Note 10 Lite, Mi Note 10 Pro
- Xiaomi Mi 10 5G, Mi 10 Youth 5G, Mi 10 Lite 5G, Mi 10 Pro 5G, Mi 10 Ultra
- Xiaomi Mi CC9 Pro

- Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer, Mi 9 Pro, Mi 9 Pro 5G
- Redmi K30, Redmi K30 5G, Redmi K30i 5G, Redmi K30 5G Racing, Redmi K30 Pro, Redmi K30 Pro Zoom, Redmi K30 Ultra
- Redmi K20 Pro, Redmi K20 Pro Premium
- Redmi 10X 4G, Redmi 10X 5G, Redmi 10X Pro 5G
- Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 9S, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max
- Redmi 9, Redmi 9A, Redmi 9C, Redmi 9i, Redmi 9 Prime
- Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 8T, Redmi Note 8 Pro
- POCO X3, POCO X3 NFC
- POCO M2, POCO M2 Pro
- POCO F2 Pro
- POCO X2, POCO X2 Pro
- POCO C3
- Black Shark 3, Black Shark 3 Pro, Black Shark 3S
- Black Shark 2, Black Shark 2 Pro
While popular devices such as the POCO F1 and Redmi Note 8 Pro are still not included, there are new additions to this particular predicted list of smartphones that could end up running on MIUI 13, which are the Xiaomi Mi 10T models, the Mi Mix Alpha, the POCO X2 Pro, the POCO C3, and the gaming-oriented Black Shark devices. MIUI 13 is expected to feature optimizations for animations, dark mode improvements, enhanced notification management, and overall better Always-on Display function.
