A video clip of the purported MIUI 13 power menu animation has recently been leaked. Along with that, a completely unofficial and somewhat bewildering MIUI 13 eligible device list has been drawn up that includes the practically ancient Redmi Note 4 but forgets about the Xiaomi Mi 9 series and the brand-new Redmi Note 9 range.

MIUI 12 hasn’t even finished rolling out yet, and there is a MIUI 12.1 update expected at some point in the near future, but that hasn’t stopped some focus shifting to MIUI 13. Xiaomi has already started work on the development of the major software update, which will apparently be centered on optimizing the system animations. This can be seen in a very short leaked video clip (see below) that supposedly shows the power menu animation for Xiaomi’s future Android overlay.

Many Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO smartphone owners will be wondering whether their device will eventually receive MIUI 13, which could possibly start appearing by mid-2021. An unofficial expected eligible device list has been put together, and while some sources have suggested taking a pinch of salt while looking through it, you might be better off just showering in sodium chloride due to the puzzling lineup:

Bearing in mind this is, obviously, an unofficial list, there are immediate eyebrow-raising concerns as to why the original compiler included 2016’s Redmi 4 and Redmi Note 4 (which weren’t even included on the official MIUI 12 list) but couldn’t find space for 2019’s Xiaomi Mi 9 series or 2020’s hugely popular Redmi Note 9 series. There seems to be no love for the Redmi Note 7 range either, and it’s like the Mi Mix 3 never existed. But at least the Redmi Note 8 lineup is included, which will be a surprise for owners who are still getting the run-around from Xiaomi in regard to a MIUI 12 update.
