Xiaomi's skin, MIUI, may get criticism for some things but it's always been one of the most feature-packed Android skins, and Xiaomi has continued in that vein till now. The company has consistently implemented new features, and the latest one is geared at further boosting the security of Xiaomi phones.
The newest version of the Mi Security app is implementing a new feature that will make theft of Xiaomi devices harder or, at least, more inconvenient. This new feature will require a user to input a pattern before the device can be turned off, as long as the device was locked beforehand.
To be fair, this isn't a groundbreaking feature, as Samsung has had the same thing for years. Or, at least, as far back as One UI 2.5, which is the oldest version of Samsung software I have access to. It's still a nifty feature, though, and one that should offer an extra layer of protection to Xiaomi owners.
At the moment, this app is only available on the latest version of the China MIUI Security App. We expect it to make its way over to the global version of MIUI soon, perhaps in a standalone update, or when MIUI 13 starts rolling out fully.
Buy the Mi 11 Lite on Amazon and be one of the first to receive MIUI 13 when it rolls out.
