The Xiaomi Mi Note 10 Lite receives MIUI 12.5 before the Mi Note 10 or Mi Note 10 Pro do
Xiaomi is well underway with its MIUI 12.5 rollout, having already reached over 35 devices globally. However, its schedule seems to lack any rhyme or reason. In February, the company confirmed that 18 devices would receive MIUI 12.5 globally by 'late Q2 2021'. In hindsight, that timeframe meant late June, but Xiaomi would not be tied down to specific dates at the time.
Now, it has started rolling out MIUI 12.5 to the Mi Note 10 Lite, a device that it announced in April 2020. The Snapdragon 730G-based smartphone arrived a month later running MIUI 11, even though Xiaomi had launched MIUI 12 by that time. Oddly, Xiaomi has chosen to upgrade the Mi Note 10 Lite to MIUI 12.5 before the Mi Note 10 or Mi Note 10 Pro, despite its upgrade schedule.
We have included the schedule below for posterity, which clearly shows the Mi Note 10 Lite below the Mi Note 10 or Mi Note 10 Pro in Xiaomi's pecking order. Nonetheless, the global version of the Mi Note 10 Lite is now eligible for V12.5.1.0.RFNMIXM, with no equivalent build ready for the Mi Note 10 or Mi Note 10 Pro. The pair have received MIUI 12.5 in Indonesia, although this is only a Stable Beta build, for the time being.
Based on past behaviour, the Mi Note 10 and Mi Note 10 Pro may not receive MIUI 12.5 globally until the middle or end of July 2021 at the earliest. The Mi Note 10 Lite remains available for a reasonable price, mind you (Amazon affiliate link), and it should receive Android 12 at some stage, unlike the Mi Note 10 or Mi Note 10 Pro.
