According to ITHome, Xiaomi plans to announce another Mi Mix flagship this year, following the Mi Mix Fold's release earlier this year. Apparently, Xiaomi has targetted Q3 2021 for the Mi Mix 4's reveal, which is expected to feature an under-display camera (UDC). Unsurprisingly, Xiaomi is thought to have equipped the Mi Mix 4 with a Snapdragon 888 SoC, too.
Additionally, the Mi Mix 4 is believed to have a 4,500 mAh battery that it can recharge at up to 120 W. While none of these specifications sound particularly outstanding, ITHome alleges that Xiaomi has settled on a special price for the Mi Mix 4. Reputedly, the next Mi Mix handset will retail for greater than CNY 5,999 (~US$930), the current retail price for the Mi 11 Ultra. However, the Mi 11 Ultra costs £1,199 in the UK, which converts to CNY 10,757. Hence, the Mi Mix 4 would retail for north of £1,199, too.
Oddly, ITHome claims that Xiaomi will equip the Mi Mix 4 with a lower-resolution display than the one it uses in the Mi Ultra 11. The display will have uniform bezels to maximise a full-screen experience, but only a 1080p panel will underpin it. By contrast, the Mi 11 Ultra has a 1440p panel that peaks at 1,700 nits with a 120 Hz refresh rate.
Unfortunately, it is unclear if Xiaomi plans to release the Mi Mix 4 globally. Its high price implies exclusivity, in our opinion, so Xiaomi may only produce a limited run of it. If that is the case, then Xiaomi could confine it to China, as it has done with other exclusive smartphones.
