Rumor | ZTE will launch a second-gen under-display camera phone soon
Visionox has reportedly announced InV See Pro, the latest example of its display panel technology capable of occluding a selfie camera in order to give a truly edge-to-edge effect. The well-known tipster Digital Chat Station was apparently at that show, and claims to have captured 2 prototype devices with this next-gen kind of UDC screen installed.
One of these was apparently produced by Visionox itself, whereas the other is allegedly from ZTE. Therefore, as this OEM was first to launch a UDC phone in 2020, this new device might have arrived there due to the development of a successor for the Axon 20 5G.
Digital Chat Station does now assert that this phone is indeed in the works at ZTE. It is thought to complete the Axon 30 series as its missing vanilla variant on its launch, so as to remain in step with its ground-breaking forebear.
ZTE has also hinted that its UDC solution will address some initial issues that came to light with the launch of its predecessor. Despite its futuristic nature, the Axon 20 failed to impress with the clarity and overall function of its hide-away selfie camera. However, these are problems slated to ease off with the advent of the "30" and its possibly InV See Pro-enhanced display.
The second-gen UDC phone from ZTE is also projected to be better set up for front-facing augmented reality, refresh rate and authentication compared to its predecessor as its state-of-the-art aspects improve.
Then again, it may find it will have more competition for attention in its particular arena, as other OEMs such as Xiaomi and Samsung are expected to adopt the new tech in their Galaxy Z Fold3 and "Mi Mix 4" super-flagships.
