Xiaomi has issued a second update to the Redmi 9 this month, but the new build is more exciting for owners of the device than V11.0.9.0.QJCMIXM was. The new update and V11.0.9.0.QJCMIXM share the November 2020 security patch in common, but V12.0.1.0.QJCMIXM also brings MIUI 12 to the device.
V12.0.1.0.QJCMIXM is a Stable Beta update for the time being, but Xiaomi Firmware Updater has published links to download the OTA and recovery ROM. Hence, you can upgrade your Redmi 9 manually to MIUI 12, should you wish to do so. The update also brings the following changes and fixes:
- Control center
- New: Tapping a blank spot in Control center closes it now
- Optimization: Control center layout in landscape mode
- Camera
- New: Watermarks
- New: Fullscreen mode
The OTA is a 505 MB download and can be flashed through System Update within the main Settings menu. However, you should only install the OTA is your device is currently running V11.0.9.0.QJCMIXM. If it is not, then you may need to install the full recovery ROM. You can find the links to both zip files below, which are hosted on Xiaomi's servers.
