Verdict — Quieter And More Efficient With Intel
The 16-inch Asus ExpertBook G2 series comes with Intel Panther Lake and AMD Ryzen AI processor options. When compared to AMD, our Intel system integrates Thunderbolt 4 for superior eGPU/docking support and a smaller battery pack (63 Wh vs. 70 Wh) but with otherwise the exact same 1600p 144 Hz IPS display and external design. Raw multi-thread performance may be slower than the AMD option, but the greater efficiency with Panther Lake means slightly longer runtimes despite the reduction in battery capacity and a generally quieter fan. Perhaps most importantly, RAM remains upgradeable.
Otherwise, the drawbacks with our Intel model are similar to the AMD model. Asus offers no touchscreen, OLED, or Panther Lake X7 options which would have boosted usability and graphics performance, respectively. Chassis quality in particular could have been better as other business-oriented laptops like the Lenovo ThinkPad or Dell Pro series tend to built tougher and more resilient. The ExpertBook G2 prioritizes thinness and portability over rigidity or stronger hinges in this regard.

The Asus ExpertBook P5605CAA-XS76 (also known as the ExpertBook P5 G2) is the Intel version of the recently reviewed AMD ExpertBook PM5 G2 PM5606. Both models are otherwise visually identical and so we recommend checking out our review on the AMD model to learn more about the physical features of the laptop.
Our test unit is a higher-end Intel configuration with the Panther Lake Core Ultra 7 356H and 1600p144 IPS display for approximately $2600 USD. Note that while our unit comes with a single 32 GB RAM module, a second module can be added for dual-channel memory.
Competitors include other prosumer or business-centric laptops like the Lenovo ThinkBook series, LG Gram 16 series, or the MSI Summit series.
