Verdict — Trading Away Rigidity For Lighter Weight
The 2026 TravelMate P4 Spin is a huge improvement over its 2021 predecessor. Aside from the obvious performance upgrade, the thinner bezels have resulted in both a smaller footprint and lighter weight while the display is a significant step up in terms of colors, brightness, and contrast. Perhaps most importantly, it has retained all the ports from the previous generation design including the MicroSD reader and RJ-45 both of which have become relatively uncommon on newer convertibles.
Unfortunately for Acer, the competition has outpaced the TravelMate P4 Spin in key areas for largely the same price. The HP EliteBook X Flip G2i 14, for example, is thinner, more compact, and more durable than the Acer and it can be configured with the same CPU as well for a similar $2000 price point. Likewise, the Lenovo ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1 feels more strongly built and with a more tactile keyboard, clickpad, and stylus for a better sense of longevity.
The integrated pen holder could also be improved upon as the pen can only be inserted in one specific orientation. Imagine trying to connect a USB-A cable but with four possible orientations instead of just two. In other words, you'll almost always guess incorrectly on the first try.
We can't knock the system too hard for its slightly grainy display as this is a trait shared between the aforementioned Lenovo and HP displays as well. Nevertheless, the screen could have been brighter for better outdoor visibility while the MicroSD card reader is inexcusably slow.
The $1800 asking price makes the TravelMate P4 Spin slightly cheaper than the big name alternatives mentioned here which is arguably one of the stronger selling points of the Acer. However, the tighter build quality of those same competing models may make their slightly heavier weights and extra costs worthwhile.
Pros
Cons
Price and Availability
The Acer TravelMate P4 Spin 14 as configured in this review is now shipping at CDW for about $1800. A version with an older CPU is also available on Amazon.
The last time we reviewed the 14-inch Acer TravelMate Spin P4 was over 5 years ago when the model shipped with Intel Tiger Lake-U processor options. For 2026, the convertible model has been refreshed with both external and internal changes alongside a CPU upgrade to the more recent Panther Lake series.
Our test unit is an entry-level to midrange configuration with the Core Ultra 5 325 CPU and 1800p 60 Hz IPS touchscreen for approximately $1800 USD. Lower-end options may come with a lower resolution 1200p IPS display while higher-end models ship with the slightly faster Core Ultra 7 355.
Alternatives include other commercial subnotebooks like the Lenovo ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1, Dell Pro 7 13 2-in-1, or the HP EliteBook X Flip G2i 14.

Specifications
Case
The chassis utilizes similar magnesium-based materials as its predecessor for that familiar matte look and smooth uniform texture. The rickety clickpad that we experienced on the 2021 model is thankfully no longer present, but the body and lid are nevertheless not as firm or solid as competing convertibles from HP or Dell.

Display
The 1800p touchscreen on our test unit has a relatively high contrast ratio of ~1800:1 especially for an IPS panel. However, the display could have been brighter for better outdoor visibility. We recommend upgrading to the 120 Hz refresh rate configuration as the base 60 Hz option doesn't feel nearly as smooth when using the stylus.
