Verdict — Super Spacious If You Have The Desk Space
Now in its third year, the 2025 Yoga Book 9i is a significant upgrade over its predecessors. Its processor is much faster this time while the two screens are larger and with double the refresh rate for a faster and more spacious user experience. More impressively, the Yoga Book 9i 14 isn't noticeably thicker or heavier than the 13-inch Yoga Book 9i despite all the improvements.
The above upgrades may be nice especially for power users who weren't satisfied with last year's Core U options, but the new demanding hardware has left its mark on overall battery life. Using both screens will cut runtimes by several hours compared to last year's option while the processor itself could have benefited from a stronger cooling solution to reduce some of the performance throttling. Opting for a portable external monitor like the ThinkVision 14 can cover a lot of what the Yoga Book 9i 14 offers without needing to spend over $2000 on a new system. It's not a gimmicky design as the second screen can come in handy for specific use cases or scenarios, but it certainly still feels clunky to use with its numerous accessories and removable keyboard versus a traditional clamshell or convertible.
Pros
Cons
The 2025 14-inch Yoga Book 9 14 succeeds last year's 2024 13-inch Yoga Book 9 13 with both larger screen sizes and new Core H CPU options to replace the slower Core U ones on older models. It otherwise shares very similar chassis designs and accessories as before and so many of our existing comments on the 2024 model still apply.
Our test unit carries the Core Ultra 7 255H Arrow Lake CPU with 16 GB of RAM for just under $2100 while higher-end SKUs carry the Core Ultra 9 285H with double the RAM.
More Lenovo reviews:
Specifications
Case
The larger 14-inch screen size necessitates a larger footprint when compared to last year's 13-inch model. Even so, thickness and weight are surprisingly not all that different between the two generations despite their screen size differences. The stainless magnesium exterior returns for similar impressions.
Model Weight | Keyboard Weight | Combined Weight |
1214 g | 340 g | 1554 g |
Connectivity
Port options remain identical to the 2023 and 2024 models. All three USB-C ports feature Thunderbolt 4 connectivity.
Communication
Webcam
The 5 MP webcam with IR and electronic shutter remain the same.

Maintenance
The model is not easy to repair or service because of its unique design. Nevertheless, Lenovo provides an official maintenance manual for those who dare to risk warranty.
Sustainability
The USB-C adapter, speaker enclosure, and battery pack consist of up to 90 percent post-consumer content recycled plastics.
The packaging is plastic free.
Accessories And Warranty
The box includes the folio stand, protective carrying sleeve, wireless earbuds, wireless mouse, stylus pen, and wireless keyboard.
The usual one-year manufacturer warranty applies if purchased in the US.
Input Devices
Keyboard
The typing experience and behavior of the wireless keyboard haven't changed from last year's model. However, the keyboard is now longer due to the larger screen size for an extra column of auxiliary keys for quickly toggling power profiles, audio, reader mode, connected wireless devices, and a user-defined shortcut.
Touchpad
The touchpad experience is the same as on the Yoga Book 9 13. Its default virtual size (11 x 6 cm) can be extended to the entire width of the touchscreen (31 cm x 6 cm). The virtual mouse keys are accompanied by a weak vibration feedback when pressed much like on a smartphone, but they are also too easy to touch by accident.
Display
Not only is are the touchscreens larger, but they are each brighter than on last year's model for better HDR support up to 750 nits. Native refresh rate has doubled as well fro 60 Hz to 120 Hz for a smoother user experience.
Maximum brightness is otherwise limited to ~400 nits when set to SDR mode.

Screen Flickering / PWM (Pulse-Width Modulation)
Screen flickering / PWM detected | 480 Hz Amplitude: 43 % | ≤ 100 % brightness setting | |
The display backlight flickers at 480 Hz (worst case, e.g., utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 100 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting. The frequency of 480 Hz is relatively high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering. However, there are reports that some users are still sensitive to PWM at 500 Hz and above, so be aware. In comparison: 53 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 8343 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured. |

Stress Test
The 14-inch model runs cooler than last year's 13-inch model when gaming, but the opposite is true when the CPU is fully stressed to 100 percent. Note that CPU package power cycles between 25 W and 32 W when gaming which is not ideal as more consistent performance is preferable.

GPU Performance
Graphics performance with the Arc 140T is excellent and comparable to the standard Arc 140V on many Lunar Lake laptops. It is a significant upgrade over the Arc 4 in last year's model by over when rendering in Blender or when playing DX12 games.

System Noise
Fan noise is louder than last year's model by a noticeable margin due to the faster and more demanding Core H-series CPU. The internal fans ramp up more quickly when higher loads are introduced as well.

Temperature
Hot spots reach just over 38 C on both sides of the base which is not unlike on most typical clamshells or convertibles with only a single screen. In other words, the system doesn't feel noticeably warmer despite its unique design.
(+) The maximum temperature on the upper side is 38.2 °C / 101 F, compared to the average of 35.4 °C / 96 F, ranging from 19.6 to 60 °C for the class Convertible.
(+) The bottom heats up to a maximum of 38.8 °C / 102 F, compared to the average of 36.8 °C / 98 F
(+) In idle usage, the average temperature for the upper side is 29.1 °C / 84 F, compared to the device average of 30.3 °C / 87 F.
(+) The palmrests and touchpad are cooler than skin temperature with a maximum of 30.6 °C / 87.1 F and are therefore cool to the touch.
(-) The average temperature of the palmrest area of similar devices was 27.9 °C / 82.2 F (-2.7 °C / -4.9 F).

Power Consumption
Overall consumption is higher than on the 2024 Yoga Book 9i due to the larger screen and the switch from a Core U-series CPU to a faster Core H-series one. Battery life is negatively affected as a result.

Battery Life
WLAN runtime can be as short as 6 hours if both screens are active. Although battery capacity is larger than on last year's model by 10 percent (88 Wh vs. 80 Wh), the increase isn't enough to make up for the more demanding hardware.
