Verdict
The IdeaPad Pro 5 14 scores points above all with its stylish metal chassis. The silver-grey surfaces are largely sturdy and give the device a premium feel. There is also little to criticise when it comes to the display. Although the high-resolution 16:10 OLED screen is prone to reflections, there is nothing to fault in terms of colour-space coverage, contrast or response times. Thanks to its generous 92 Wh battery, the battery life is also impressive.
The new Ryzen AI 7 450, meanwhile, leaves us with mixed feelings. On the one hand, it can certainly hold its own against Intel's competitors. Compared with the older Ryzen AI 7 350, however, performance has barely improved, as we will show over the course of the review. The input devices are good in typical Lenovo fashion, while the port selection can be described as solid, though not quite as generous as on some Yoga Slim laptops.
Pros
Cons
Price and availability
The tested Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 14AGP11 with the Ryzen AI 7 450 is available for around €1,000, although it is currently only listed by very few retailers. Prices and availability may vary depending on the region and retailer.
Its competitors include other 14-inch notebooks costing less than €1,500, such as its direct predecessor, the IdeaPad Pro 5 14AKP G10, and devices based on the Intel Core Ultra 5 226V, including the Asus Vivobook S 14 OLED and the Acer Swift 14 AI.
Specifications
Case
The well-built chassis weighs 1.4 kg, making it neither particularly light nor particularly heavy for a 14-inch device. The design is rather understated and therefore looks good in any environment. The lid's opening angle is also convincing, although the display cannot be opened a full 180°.
Connectivity
Four USB ports are more than adequate given the size of the notebook, especially as the two Type-C ports support the latest USB 4 standard, including Power Delivery and DisplayPort. They are joined by an audio jack, an HDMI output and a full-size, medium-speed SD card reader. The Wi-Fi 7 module from Realtek also meets expectations. The Full HD webcam, which has a manual shutter, delivers above-average sharpness, although its colour accuracy is not ideal. The case can be opened after removing five Torx screws. Photos of the internals can be found further below.

Input devices
The white-backlit chiclet keyboard offers a usable typing experience and a fairly successful layout. Lenovo combines flat keys with keys that have a slight downward curve. The touchpad, measuring approx. 13.5 x 8 cm, is quite generously sized for the 14-inch class and usually works reliably, although clicks feel and sound somewhat rattly. Its gliding properties are acceptable.
Display
One of the highlights of the IdeaPad Pro 5 14 is its high-contrast and extremely sharp OLED panel, which has a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800 pixels, a 120 Hz refresh rate and HDR support. Its only real weakness is its highly reflective surface, especially when used outdoors. The measured brightness is perfectly sufficient for indoor use, with an average of 490 cd/m² broadly matching the manufacturer's specification. Further plus points include the generous colour-space coverage, with even AdobeRGB almost fully covered, and the already fairly accurate colours in the factory state. Viewing angles and response times are typical of an OLED panel.

The display backlight flickers at 600 Hz (worst case, e.g., utilizing PWM) Flickering detected at a brightness setting of 80 % and below. There should be no flickering or PWM above this brightness setting. The frequency of 600 Hz is quite high, so most users sensitive to PWM should not notice any flickering. In comparison: 52 % of all tested devices do not use PWM to dim the display. If PWM was detected, an average of 7801 (minimum: 5 - maximum: 343500) Hz was measured. | |||
Performance
In the subnotebook segment, the IdeaPad Pro 5 sits in the mid-range. Although the 14-inch model's RAM cannot be upgraded, its 32 GB of LPDDR5X memory should be sufficient for most users for quite some time. The installed 1 TB SSD is only a 2242-format model, although Lenovo has included a spare M.2 slot with support for 2280-format drives.
Test conditions
The Fn+Q key combination can be used to choose between four different profiles, three of which we checked as examples (see table). As with the predecessor, all final measurements were carried out in performance mode.

Processor
The Ryzen AI 7 450 turns out to be only a slightly tuned version of the older Ryzen AI 7 350, with a minimally higher clock speed and the option of faster RAM, up to 8,533 MHz. It therefore comes as little surprise that the new IdeaPad performs virtually on a par with its predecessor. Pleasingly, the eight-core processor, which can handle up to 16 threads, maintained impressively consistent performance throughout the Cinebench loop.

In the system tests, the 14-inch device manages to secure first place among the comparison devices, although the differences compared with the older IdeaPad Pro 5 are once again rather small.

GPU performance
Not much has really changed when it comes to the iGPU either. The Radeon 860M can certainly hold its own against Intel's competing Arc Graphics 130V, especially in games, as we will see shortly. Interestingly, the older IdeaPad Pro 5 14 was slightly faster, at least in the 3DMark tests.

Gaming performance
Users who do not want to play demanding games and are happy with moderate resolutions and settings should be quite satisfied with the Radeon 860M. Well-optimised titles such as ARC Raiders run smoothly at 1,920 x 1,080 pixels with low to medium settings. If performance becomes tight in other games, using FSR may help.

Battery life
Battery life is one of the 14-inch device's absolute strengths, not least thanks to its generous 92 Wh capacity. By comparison, its competitors only offer 65 to 84 Wh. In our Wi-Fi test with the brightness reduced to 150 cd/m², the device lasted almost 15 hours, which is a very respectable result.
