Lenovo’s IdeaPad lineup sits below the multimedia Yoga laptops and aims to offer a good price-performance. In this regard, the 16-inch IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 9 is a triumph, as it nails the basics like speedy operation and a long runtime. What’s more, the laptop is now enjoying a sizeable discount on eBay, making it a superb value.
Lenovo is now selling the IdeaPad Pro 5 16 Gen 9 with a 6-core Ryzen 5 8645HS CPU, an RTX 3050 laptop GPU, and a 120 Hz OLED display for only $779.99 on eBay. This discounted price represents massive $440 savings on the $1,219.99 list price.
The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 9 has an excellent OLED display
The highlights of the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 include the aluminum chassis, low operating temperatures, and expandable storage. The laptop also includes a good port selection with a USB 4.0 connector, an SD card reader, and an HDMI 2.1 out, to name a few.
That said, the biggest selling point of the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 9 on sale is the expansive 16-inch 2K OLED display. Lenovo claims that the panel covers 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut and boasts 400 nits of brightness. While Intel-based our review unit didn’t come with an OLED panel, we did test the smaller 14-inch OLED display of the IdeaPad Pro Gen 9 14 which shares the base specs of the panel under discussion. Our testing found the 14-inch 2.8K OLED display to deliver on Lenovo’s promises.
Aside from the display, the IdeaPad Pro 5 16 should also impress with its long battery life. Our review device managed to run for an impressive 12.5 hours in the Wi-Fi Websurfing test. So, we can expect the same runtimes from the SKU on offer.
Finally, the combination of the Ryzen 5 8645HS and a dedicated RTX 3050 GPU should also ensure smooth performance in routine tasks and casual gaming sessions.
All in all, if you are in the market for an affordable multimedia machine, the 16-inch Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 Gen 9 is a solid value-for-money option.
