The SK hynix PCB01 HFS001TFM9X179N GL is a 1-terabyte NVMe PCIe 5.0 SSD that was launched in June 2024. This M.2 22 by 80 drive reportedly makes use of the Alistar ACNT093 controller.
PCB01 series drives are supposed to deliver sequential read and write rates of up to 14 GB/s and 12 GB/s, respectively. Four PCIe 5 lanes (3,938 MB/s) are more than enough to make that happen - on paper, that is.
Performance
While some of the figures the drive delivers look fairly good, such as the 8,075 MB/s AS SSD sequential read rate, most don't, like the 2,903 MB/s DiskSPD sequential write rate. Its 4K read/write rates are quite low, too, and it throttles when under prolonged loads.
We expect the 2 TB version to perform better. As for the throttling issue, those who intend to use the SSD in a large and well-cooled PC chassis as opposed to a thin laptop are probably safe.
