Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 V Series (SM8850-1-AB) is a high-end SoC (system-on-a-chip) for smartphones that was unveiled in late 2025. It integrates two fast Oryon Gen 3 Prime Cores clocked at up to 4.6 GHz and six smaller Oryon Gen 3 Performance Cores clocked at up to 3.6 GHz.
Compared to the standard SD 8 E G5 (SM8850-5-AC), the V Series integrates a less powerful GPU with only two of the three cores (slices) and correspondingly less GPU cache (12 MB instead of 18 MB).
The integrated X85-5G modem supports 5G NR in the sub-6 GHz and mmWave bands, with download speeds of up to 12.5 Gbit/s and upload speeds of up to 3.7 Gbit/s.
The quad-channel memory controller with four 16-bit channels (64 bits in total) supports LPDDR5X-5300 with a maximum bandwidth of 84.8 GB/s.
The single-core performance of the large Prime Cores is outstanding and, on par with the Apple A19 Pro SoC, ranks among the best smartphone processors. Under multi-core load, the SD 8 Elite Gen 5 performs even better: It outperforms the A19 Pro by 21% and trails only slightly behind a 9-core Apple M4.
The chip is manufactured by TSMC using its advanced N3P process (3 nm).
