Since the wave called netbook swept the computer market a year ago, there have been more than 50 vendors trying to sell these little machines in Europe. Asus, whose Eee PC line virtually started the netbook revolution, has over 20 models in market. World leaders like HP and Dell have their own brands to offer at various price segments. There’s only one company that never had more than one model in the netbook market till now. That is the company who has taken the biggest pie with over 32% of the netbook market share, selling about 1.1 million units worldwide. That is the company called Acer. With its lone Aspire One 8.9-inch, Acer has been able to cut a sorry figure of bigger players like HP or Dell, both of whom stand at much lower than 10% of the netbook market share. The biggest advantages Aspire One 8.9-inch had was its low cost, less customer confusion in choosing which model to buy by letting him customize his unit, and the ability to launch its products worldwide simultaneously.

Now carrying that legacy forward, here comes a bigger, better machine that many says will sell like hot cake at an affordable price-tag of only $350. The new Acer Aspire One AOD150-1165 10.1-Inch Netbook is the latest one to join the most coveted 10-inch netbook brands.

Idealo reports that this computer’s 10.1 inch display has a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. The 6-cell battery is relatively strong performing, and according to Acer, can last up to 6 hours. The processor included is the power-saving Intel Atom N280 CPU, which has a 1.66GHz clock and 667MHz FSB. The hard disc has a 160GB capacity, and the Acer Aspire one D150 can be used as an everyday business computer with the pre-installed Windows XP Home. An external monitor can also be attached through the VGA port. Three USB ports and a card reader are also on board. WLAN comes as standard, and UMTS is available as an optional extra.

With just about one kilo to carry around, no one should have much of complain about its mobility. It is available in sapphire blue from right now for pre-ordering. The machine should start shipping from around March 6th.
