The Expanse: Osiris Reborn gets Spring 2027 window, April 22 beta

Owlcat Games and Xbox used the March 26 Xbox Partner Preview to give The Expanse: Osiris Reborn a clearer launch path. Xbox Wire says the third-person action RPG is now planned for Spring 2027, while an Xbox Series X|S closed beta will open on April 22, 2026. Xbox also says the game is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud, with Xbox Play Anywhere support and day-one availability on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
The April 22 beta is not an open test
The beta is more limited than a standard public demo. According to Owlcat’s Xbox Wire post, access is tied to players who support development by buying either the Miller’s Pack or the Collector’s Edition through the game’s official site. Owlcat says the beta will run from April 22, 2026, until the full release and will include a full mission that begins as the player and their twin return to Pinkwater 4 station after escaping Eros in a stolen ship.
New gameplay details focus on squad support and combat tools
The new trailer and accompanying post also add more detail on how combat and party support will work. Owlcat says players will be able to use weapons such as shotguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, pistols, and submachine guns, alongside gadgets including tactical scanners, drones, and zero-gravity grenades. The studio also introduced an Exploit system, which lets companions trigger environmental or tactical takedowns against groups of enemies.
Owlcat additionally used the update to spotlight more crew members. The trailer reveals Regina and Teo alongside previously introduced characters such as Zafar and Michael, while the player character’s twin remains part of the core story setup.
In separate Xbox coverage, we also looked at Hades II coming to Xbox Game Pass in April with Xbox Play Anywhere support as Microsoft confirmed a day-one Game Pass release and wider Xbox ecosystem support for Supergiant Games’ sequel.
