Ubisoft has detailed controller support for The Division Resurgence ahead of launch, confirming PS5, Xbox, and Backbone compatibility, along with pre-registration rewards.

Ubisoft is using the final stretch before The Division Resurgence launches to highlight how the mobile shooter can be played. The company states the game supports multiple input options, including optimized touch controls, PlayStation 5 controllers, Xbox controllers, and Backbone controllers. Ubisoft also says players can mix touch and controller inputs depending on how they want to play.

As such, Ubisoft wants The Division Resurgence positioned as a full mobile entry that can be played either as a native touchscreen shooter or with a more console-like setup. The company has already confirmed a March 31, 2026, worldwide release date for iOS and Android.

Ubisoft outlines four control options for mobile play

According to Ubisoft’s controller layout update, the default touch scheme is designed specifically for handheld play, with customizable options like camera sensitivity and button layout. For players who prefer physical inputs, Ubisoft says PS5 and Xbox controllers are both supported, while Backbone support is also included for users who want a more dedicated mobile controller accessory.

Ubisoft frames that support as part of a broader attempt to make The Division Resurgence feel flexible on phones rather than locked into one control style. That may matter for a game built around third-person gunplay, co-op missions, PvP modes, and the series’ usual cover-based combat, all of which can feel very different depending on whether players use touch or a controller.

Pre-registration rewards are still on offer before launch

The controller update also lands with Ubisoft still pushing pre-registration ahead of release. In its March 3 launch-date announcement, the publisher said players who pre-register can unlock the NYC Firefighter cosmetic set and Pure Gold weapon skins at launch. Ubisoft also says players who sign into The Division Resurgence with their usual Ubisoft Connect account will be able to unlock rewards in The Division 2.

For anyone still deciding whether to try the game on day one, this news gives Ubisoft two clear selling points before launch: more than one way to play on mobile, and a small batch of launch rewards tied to pre-registration and Ubisoft Connect. With March 31 now locked in, the remaining question is whether those options are enough to help The Division Resurgence stand out in a crowded mobile shooter market.

In other recent game news, The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin moved into its full March 23 launch after its Early Play period began on PS5 and Steam on March 16. Separately, PUBG: Battlegrounds used its Anti-Cheat 2026 Roadmap to lay out a broader push for the year, centered on stronger detection, fewer false bans, and tougher barriers for previously banned players trying to return.
