The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin March 22 hotfix fixes sound bug and more

Netmarble has issued a March 22 temporary maintenance update for The Seven Deadly Sins: Origin, and the patch is more than a generic backend refresh. The official notice says the hotfix fixes a bug where sound may not play properly in certain situations, adjusts the [New Clothes, New Beginnings] quest so it can be cleared after engraving equipment even without finishing the earlier equip mission, and fixes an issue where Cube Keys could recharge after being consumed if a player reconnected to the game. Netmarble also said it is reviewing data tied to repeated abuse of the Cube Key error and will share more details separately.
The March 22 update targets audio and several progression blockers
The sound fix stands out because Netmarble had already listed improper sound playback as a known issue on March 20. Two days later, that issue appears in the March 22 maintenance notice as fixed, suggesting the team pushed a relatively rapid turnaround patch for at least some of the audio issues players reported after launch.
The rest of the patch focuses heavily on progression, controls, and event logic. Netmarble says it fixed shortcut settings resetting after reconnects on PC, a case where progress could break if a player died during the Orgot boss challenge and the encounter failed to reset, tutorial character switch key recognition problems, and two Albion-related issues tied to respawn placement and boss behavior near restricted movement zones.
The update also fixes Elaine’s Wand Skill Special Attack “Whirlwind Veil” so its damage-over-time effect is applied every second as intended, alongside a Knighthood approval bug and a PlayStation 5 controller purchase error involving the Meliodas Growth Mission Bundle.
Compensation and rollout details
As compensation, players are set to receive Star Fragment x300 and an extra Large Cube Key Bundle x1, both claimable from the in-game mailbox until April 5 at 14:59 UTC. Netmarble also warns that PlayStation 5 players may see a large update file after maintenance, which aligns with the sizable patch behavior some users noticed during release week.
The timing is notable because the hotfix lands just ahead of the game’s March 23 grand launch window, after Netmarble said in Developer Notes #6 that it was prioritizing crashes, gameplay blockers, and other player-facing issues for rapid improvement. In that sense, the March 22 patch looks like another stability-focused cleanup update rather than a content expansion.
