New Amazfit smartwatch update improves user experience

The Amazfit Balance 2 XT smartwatch is receiving a new software update. The firmware version 2.16.2.1 update follows on from the major version 2.16.0.1 release, which arrived in February 2026. This earlier software added new features, including Rucking and Mountain Hiking modes, as well as a screenshot function to the wearable.
Firmware version 2.16.2.1 is a relatively minor update. As reported on Reddit, the release optimizes how weather information is displayed. Zepp Health, the company behind the Amazfit brand, has also tweaked how sunrise and sunset times work during time changes. On top of this, there are said to be bug fixes for “other known issues”, generally improving system stability. Unfortunately, further details on these fixes have not been provided.
As is typical for Amazfit smartwatch updates, firmware version 2.16.2.1 appears to be rolling out on a per-country basis to users of the Balance 2 XT smartwatch. The rollout is expected to start with the US, Canada and China, ahead of a European release. This update arrives shortly after the related Balance 2 smartwatch (curr. $249.99 at Amazon) received software version 3.43.0.3, which brought two new running-related features to the wearable.
