ViewSonic: ViewBook VNB105 is a low-power consumption 10.1-inch netbook

The ViewBook VNB105 is part of the ViewBook line-up of computers by the American company ViewSonic. It is mainly targeted towards students and people on-the-go as it is compact and offers high portability as well as long battery life (up to 6 hours). This mini notebook is also equipped with a 10.1-inch display, an Intel Atom processor and is powered by a genuine copy of Windows 7 Starter OS.

Configuration

ViewSonic’s netbook apparently sports Intel’s Atom N450 (ranked 351 on our CPU Benchmarklist) central processing unit which is clocked at 1.66GHz and has 512KB L2 cache. Even though this processor only has one core it is powerful enough for consumers to perform basic functions such as surfing the web and using office software.

In addition, this CPU comes with an integrated graphics controller – the Intel GMA 3150 (core speed – 200MHz; fully supports DirectX 9c; ranked 241 on our GPU Benchmarklist).  The VNB105 ships with a WSVGA TFT LCD wide screen which is 10.1 inches in diagonal.

The ViewBook VNB105 reportedly houses 1GB of DDR2 system memory and also features a 2.5-inch 160GB rotating SATA hard drive (HDD).

Connectivity

This mini portable PC is supposedly equipped with an Ethernet LAN and an 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi adapters that allow users to stay connected. Video conferencing is also possible with the help of the integrated 1.3 megapixel web camera, microphone and headphone jacks. Other available ports include a VGA out, three USB 2.0 ports and a 7-in-1 card reader (SD, MMC, MS, MS Pro, MS Duo, RSMMC and SD Mini cards can be used).

Other specs and pricing

The ViewBook VNB105 comes with a 6-cell battery (40W) which, according the product’s official web page, can last up to 6 hours. The device measures 10.4x0.94x8.0 inches (or approx. 265x24x203 mm) and weighs 2.75lb (about 1.25kg)

This device supposedly ships with a floating keyboard, for easier and smoother typing, and a pre-installed copy of Windows 7 Starter Edition OS.

ViewSonic’s ViewBook VNB105 costs $399 (or about €314).
