Asus: What goes into the brand-new Asus Eee PC 1015PED?

The Asus Eee PC 1015PED is available in two differently specked models

Anyone for what’s brewing on the Asus camp lately? It’s the Asus Eee PC 1015PED notebook that has been released in two segments price wise, a high-end model and a cheaper one. The 10-inch wide laptops score better on the higher end version with more to look for in terms of better battery life that of 63WHr and impressive clock speed thanks to the 1.83 GHz Intel Atom N475 processor, as compared to its lower end version wherein in an attempt to lower price, quality has been compromised with, this is evident gauging from a battery life of a meagre 48 WHr and a slower 1.66GHz Intel Atom N455 CPU.

The notebook is available in basic shades of Black, Blue, White and Red and does not offer anything innovative on the design where it resembles its older siblings. The other hardware specifications of the higher end version would be a screen resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels that replicates audio and video captured by the inbuilt 3MP webcam pretty satisfactorily. The notebook comes with a 250 GB hard drive and ports to plug in connections for the Ethernet, VGA, an SD card reader and the usual mic and headphones. The trio of USB ports supported allow for USB 3.0 except for one that can do just a 2.0.

Having a matted display and finish, slightly smoothened more at the rear than the front, the Asus Eee PC 1015PED notebook is available for sale on Amazon.com at a price of $360 and is definitely something to take heed to.
