MagyarSony Bravia Theatre Quad to launch as a surround system with four speakers, 504W power and Dolby Atmos
The Sony Bravia Theatre Quad is being presented as an alternative to soundbars, designed to achieve more spatial sound. The system consists of four 7.3 cm thin speakers that can be either placed on the floor or hung on the wall. Two speakers are placed to the left and right of the TV, and the remaining two behind the viewer.
The speakers connect wirelessly to a small, black box, which in turn can be connected to a Smart TV via HDMI eARC. Thanks to Acoustic Center Sync, the speakers of compatible Sony TVs can be used as center speakers, and customers can also add a wireless Sony subwoofer to the system. Each of the four speakers has one upward-facing and three front-facing drivers; Sony states that they have a total output of 504 watts.
These upward-facing speakers in conjunction with Sony 360 Spatial Sound Mapping, 360 Reality Audio and Dolby Atmos are intended to create enormously spatial sound. Thanks to WiFi 5, Sony Theatre Quad supports both Apple AirPlay and Spotify Connect; alternatively, music can also be streamed via Bluetooth 5.2, including support for Sony LDAC.
Price and availability
The Sony Bravia Quad will soon be available for a recommended retail price of $2499.99, which is $1100 more than the new flagship Bravia Theatre Bar 9 soundbar. More information can be found on the official product page.
