Pricing and further details for the Kia EV5 in another country have been unveiled. The model launched in China last year, with the company announcing mass production of the version of the electric vehicle designed for the global market several weeks ago. Now, it has been revealed that the Kia EV5 will start from NZ$67,990 in New Zealand; the model is available to order via dealers.
The EV5 is due to hit the road in New Zealand in the next few months, with a prototype currently touring showrooms in the region during April and May. It appears that only long-range versions will be offered in the country with an 88.1 kWh battery for a WLTP range of 540 km (~335 miles) and a 141 kW DC charging rate. The entry-level Light is a front-wheel drive model with a 160 kW motor and up to 310 Nm torque. Standard features include smart cruise control, Kia’s Highway Driving Assist 2 and front and rear parking sensors. The Light+ is priced at NZ$70,450, adding more advanced features like a 360° camera, blind-spot view monitor and remote smart park assist.
Next in the line-up are the Earth FWD and Earth AWD, with the latter adding a second 70 kW motor at the rear for a total output of 230 kW and 480Nm torque. There are more upgrades here versus the Light trims, like heated front seats, a heads-up display and a Vehicle-to-load (V2L) feature. The Earth FWD and Earth AWD retail for NZ$75,450 and $80,450, respectively. The range-topping EV5 GT costs NZ$85,450 and is expected to have a combined 313hp output from the dual motors and a 0 to 60 mph (~100 kph) acceleration time of 6.5 seconds. The specifications of the Kia EV5 for other countries like Australia, Canada and Mexico are likely to be somewhat similar.
