Polestar 8 concept casts a glance into the future
The Polestar 3 will hit the market later this year as the first vehicle to take advantage of the SPA2 platform. The original SPA platform was introduced in 2014 after a three-year development period. While all SPA-based cars use 4-cylinder engines (both diesel and gasoline), the SPA2 platform is EV-exclusive. The Volvo EX90 crossover will be closely related to the Polestar 3 and is expected to be released this year as well.
While the Polestar 3 is set to become the brand's flagship product, a designer based in Turin has managed to peek into the future and come up with the Polestar 8, an entirely fictional model for now that follows the brand's design language. The Polestar 8 concept renders show a quite minimalist design, but one that is light-years ahead of the infamous Cybertruck. In this case, Salvatore Ville chose to alternate metallic surfaces and black trims, paying attention to details such as the side rear-view cameras, and also managed to come up with an overall aggressive stance. The rear lights have quite an interesting shape, with straight corners that create a light box that's hard to miss but also fits well with the curves of the overall design.
In the final quarter of 2023, Polestar delivered about 12,800 cars, closing the year with a total of almost 55,000 deliveries. Compared to 2022, this volume represents a growth of 6 percent. In 2023, Tesla managed to sell over 1.8 million units, with a record-breaking 484,000 cars sold between October and December 2023.
