The comparatively young Swedish carmaker Polestar is off to a promising start into the EV era as its two smaller car models Polestar 1 and Polestar 2 have posted some remarkable sales figures in numerous countries around the world. With the Polestar 3, the brand is now preparing to add a full-fledged electric SUV to its EV lineup later this year.
After the Polestar 3 has already been officially unveiled as a camouflaged prototype, the talented graphic designers at Motor1 have now created an unofficial render image that shows the electric SUV from Sweden in all its glory. The picture in question can be accessed via this link. As expected, the EV features a familiarly striking headlight design which, in combination with the daytime running lights, is supposed to be reminiscent of the shape of Thor's hammer.
In direct comparison to the company’s successful electric sedan, the front of the Polestar 3 appears to look a bit more angular and aggressive. Furthermore, the taillights in particular are a strong reminder of the electric SUV’s close relation to the Volvo Embla, which is set to serve as an electric alternative to the XC90 and has already been illustrated in an equally gorgeous render image a couple of months ago. From a technical perspective, the Polestar 3 is said to be equipped with an advanced LiDAR sensor and it could possibly sport a range of around 435 miles per charge.
Judging by these unofficial render pictures, the Polestar 3 could certainly attract lots of buyers in the red-hot EV market, but it remains to be seen if the Swedish performance SUV can truly hold its own against the premium competition from other notable European carmakers. But alongside the BMW iX, the Mercedes EQE SUV and the Audi e-tron, the Polestar 3 will most likely be a very worthy addition to the ranks of full-size luxury electric SUVs when it launches in October 2022.
