Polestar 3: CEO reveals price of the electric Porsche Cayenne competitor from Sweden
The electric car manufacturer Polestar is growing at a rapid pace as it has just celebrated a new sales record for the first half of the year 2022. In order to further increase its EV market share, the company plans to unveil its very first electric performance SUV called the Polestar 3 in October, but the company’s CEO has already shared some exciting news regarding the price of the upcoming Porsche Cayenne competitor.
According to a report by InsideEVs, Polestar CEO Thomas Ingenlath has revealed that the Polestar 3 is expected to cost at least €75,000, while the top-of-the-line model could sell for up to €110,000. Since the Euro is currently very close to parity with the US dollar, US prices could be quite similar or even a tad lower, since European list prices usually include the applicable local sales taxes. If the Swedish automaker stays true to this price range, the base model of the Polestar 3 would be on par with the Porsche Cayenne, whose combustion engine model currently starts at US$72,200.
As is already known, the Swedish performance SUV will be based on the SPA2 platform and is expected to be equipped with two electric motors, while its WLTP range could be rated at 373 miles per charge. Despite its high price that matches the Porsche Cayenne, the Polestar 3 is an incredibly important vehicle for the ambitious automaker. In addition to the smaller Porsche Macan competitor, the Polestar 4, these two electric SUVs are expected to become extremely popular among EV buyers in the premium segment. In 2025, Polestar plans to sell an impressive 160,000 units of its two electric SUVs, and the Polestar 3 is expected to account for 77,000 of these sales.
