Polestar all-electric roadster concept to be made a reality, estimated to launch by 2026
Is it finally feasible to make an electric car roofless, 2x2 and rated for speed? Polestar claims to have found an emphatically positive answer to that question with its O2 concept car. In fact, its engineering is apparently so good that it is now going into production.
Although Polestar's new renders make it look much like the O2, it will debut as the 6 LA Concept edition instead - oh, and also lack the on-board drone. Nevertheless, it is now slated to run thanks to the same platform as the 5, set at 800V with a dual-motor power-train, up to 650kW of power and an estimated range of 600 kilometers (km) if not more.
Polestar also already projects that the 6 LA Concept will be capable of hitting the 250km/h (~155 miles per hour (mph)) mark and of getting from 0-100km/h (~62 mph) in 3.2 seconds. However, it won't be available until 2026.
Furthermore, Polestar plans to make only 500 units of the LA Concept edition, each of which will cost about US$200,000 - plus an extra US$25,000 to reserve one at this point, of course.
