HNF-Nicolai XD4 e-bicycle range arrives in Europe with 45 kph top speed
The XD4 electric bike from HNF-Nicolai has arrived with six models available: the All Terrain, All Terrain Rohloff, Speed, Adventure, Eco Touring and Eco Naked. Both S-pedelec and e-bike vehicles are on offer, with either a standard bicycle chain or low-maintenance carbon belt. The latter three variants of the XD4 are fitted with a Bosch motor, delivering up to 85 Nm of torque and a top speed of 45 kph (~28 mph) in the Speed version, or 25 kph (~16 mph) on other models.
The powertrain of the Rohloff edition bicycle includes the Rohloff SpeedHub 500 e14, making it the most expensive bike in the range. A chain drive is used for the two Eco versions and the Adventure bike, making them the cheaper models. The entry-level Eco Naked is the most basic variant, without a rear rack or mudguards, and the lightest in the series, weighing 23 kg (~51 lbs). The other bikes weigh between 25 kg (~55 lbs) and 30 kg (~66 lbs), and can support loads up to 150 kg (~331 lbs).
A 750 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery is used in all e-bikes, though HNF-Nicolai does not offer an estimated range for each version. The XD4 e-bikes start from €4,115 (~US$4,166), with the top-end XD4 All Terrain Rohloff model costing €7,215 (~US$7,305). The bikes are available via dealers in various European countries such as the Netherlands, France, Italy and Germany.
