VanMoof S3 Aluminum limited edition electric bike prepares to launch
VanMoof will shortly release the S3 Aluminum electric bicycle in limited numbers. The bike has a two-tone aluminum frame with brushed elements and a matte black finish in places like mudguards and the cockpit. It is currently unclear how much the bike weighs; as a rough guide, the standard S3 has a coated aluminum frame and weighs 19 kg (~41.9 lbs).
VanMoof has confirmed that the e-bike will perform similarly to the standard VanMoof S3. The regular S3 model has a theft defence system with onboard alarms and location tracking. The e-shifter provides a smooth riding experience, with four assistance levels available. An intelligent 250 W motor can assist you at speeds up to 20 mph (~32 kph) with up to 59 Nm of turbo boost torque. The bike is fitted with hydraulic brakes and a 504 Wh battery, providing up to 93 miles (~150 km) of range.
You can control the pedelec via the VanMoof app, with settings for a digital bell sound and gear change moments. You can also locate your bike via the Apple Find My network. A 166 LED matrix allows you to display simple images on the top tube. The bicycle is fitted with a keyless or touch locking mechanism and currently retails for US$2,548.
The VanMoof S3 Aluminum e-bike will arrive on August 18 for €2,698 (~US$2,777). The electric bicycle will be available in the US, Netherlands, France and Germany. You can currently register your interest in the bike here.
